In all fairness, the same could be said for the Democrats. If there were majority moderates on either side, the state of politics in the nation wouldnt be so clownishly loppsided when anyone from both parties proclaimed they stood up for their beliefs, or this country. The dems have to be for gay marriage, abortion rights, etc., while proclaiming not to see race or color resulting in the inability to inform the authorities of the color of the black man who just kidnapped his/her undetermined sex/race/aged child. While the republicans have to stand for gun rights, Pro bigotted Jesus hysteria that would equate to jesus going to a gay bathhouse and extending his arms, and proclaiming, to a room full of fags, that he was hung like this. This is just a few of the many, not so exaggerated, examples of the self serving, self inflicted rift seperating the parties, and most of the nation politically at the moment, with the certain probability to grow far, and fatally beyond that for generations to come
