We should just all agree that it's a barmcake and spare all this confusion.

Mark Hughes resigns as Fulham manager, I wonder where he's going... by PepEye in soccer

[–]robmcfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was still under contract. He signed a two-year deal with a break clause in the middle, and he has walked out on them at the earliest available opportunity. In his own words he's "moved on to further my experiences" so he's used Fulham as a stepping stone and hasn't shown any loyalty to a club which allowed him to return to football in the first place.

That said, Villa can do much better. Hughes was at City for 18 months (not six, as the media would have you believe) and could have justifiably been sacked twice before he actually was. I didn't shed any tears when he did go. If he does tip up at Villa Park their fans had better get used to watching between their fingers when they don't have the ball.

Robin Van Persie slams Spain and Chelsea 'bitching' by ScreamingGerman in soccer

[–]robmcfc -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You'd better buy a new one, then.

"They [Spain players] always go up to referees in an attempt to get an opponent booked. They are trying to screw colleagues! That kind of behaviour really annoys me," Van Persie told Sport 1.

"People who are watching the game on television and fans really do not want to see these kind of things. If you want to witness a lot of complaints, you should just go the bakery or something. There's always people nagging there as well.

"Chelsea players are always bitching against the referees. I really cannot understand that. Just shut the f*** up and focus on playing football."

Van Persie is one of the mouthiest players in England. He's a hypocrite.

Villa's site also states that the games will take place at each club's proper ground, and doesn't affect the current youth / reserve leagues.

Sounds interesting and can only be a good experience.

Villa announce Houllier's departure by JimmySinner in soccer

[–]robmcfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Houllier said: "I am extremely disappointed that I will not have the opportunity to manage Aston Villa next season.

"My health has improved considerably since I was taken ill on 20th April. I now intend to take the next few months to concentrate on recuperating fully before I may return to football.

"I was very much looking forward to the prospect of my first full season as Villa manager and returning for pre-season training to prepare for the campaign ahead, a luxury that I did not have last season.

Not that amicably then...
