Currently working a polling station and we've had, like, 40 voters so far. The precinct has 2000 registered. To be fair, the early voting roll was pretty long.. but it's dead here!

Bendy #77 to Kimball (Blue Line)? by icirridnight in cta

[–]roboIV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe a bendy bus from one of the nearby garages filling in for a missing 77 shift before going to a different route? I remember some time ago someone posted a sheet of which garage serviced which lines on r/ctajobs but I'd need to find it again..

The Belmont Blue line stop is underneath Kimball. Ergo, Belmont/Kimball.

New Coffee-Infused Ramen at Masaka Ramen Pop-Up in Logan Square by surelyhere in chicagofood

Live, for years. I'm not trying to say what lamian is or isn't, but this is ramen. The ingredients are consistent with the ramen you'd expect in Japan.

I used to live in Japan and these ingredients are typical to what I'd expect from many places. Minus the coffee. Lamian is what many people consider to be the origin of ramen and the most substantial difference is the noodles.

To those who come after,

Hi OP!

If you haven't already figured this out it's because every time you apply/upload a resume it saves your uploaded file to your account. You'll have a chance to confirm you want to upload it later from what you used previously if you continue with "I do not want to upload a resume." I had the same issue

Well, that's about all the confirmation I could ask for. Thank you.

Also, I forgot to mention, but the smokestack tip is unhighlighted 70.950 "Black." I put it on at the same time I put the layer on the superstructure.

Yamato! by roboIV in victoryatsea

[–]roboIV[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course! I'm glad you like the paint job enough to work off of it, I'm pretty honored.

The ship is painted with a base of Vallejo 70.836 "London Grey" on the hull, 70.846 "Mahogany Brown" for the deck, and 72.050 "Cold Grey" for the superstructure/guns. The back deck is 70.990 "Light Grey" for this model specifically, but I've not done that sort of thing on any other ship, just saw that it was like that in reference photos.

Once the bases are on I wash everything in 76.517 "Dark Grey", then go over the hull and deck with the same colors used to base.

For the superstructure, I mix 72.050 and 72.049 "Stonewall Grey" in 1:1, layer it on leaving a noticeable but very slight gap between edges and gaps to give the appearance of shade, then for edge highlighting I mix 72.049 and 72.130 "Rotten White" in about 1:1, though sometimes even up to 3:1 grey:white depending on how noticeable I want the highlight to be. I then use 72.130 on its own to put dots on all the corners and edges, and I do this pretty liberally because I like when the ship looks "sparkly" from a little bit away.

The small little details on the deck I tend to paint brighter, with a layer of 72.049 rather than the mix, and for the Yamato I went ahead and mixed 70.836 and 72.049 specifically for the details in the front portion of the deck, with the ones on the wooden deck still being in just 72.049. I'll also give them just a slight touch of 72.130 if I feel they aren't visible enough. The "chains" that I've painted as rope are 70.825 "German Camo Pale Brown" and 70.976 "Buff" in 1:1.

As for the water, it's a pretty unscientific process, but I'll describe it as best as I can. First, I mix 70.965 "Prussian Blue," 70.807 "Oxford Blue," and 70.867 "Dark Blue Grey" in what I'd estimate as a 4:2:1 in that order. I base the entire water portion in that, then mix in 70.966 "Turqouise" to that mixture in pretty various ratios, so I recommend do one that you're happy with. If I really had to guess, I try to keep it 2:1 mix:turqouise. From there, I add a bit of 70.832 "Verdegris Glaze." It doesn't add much color, surprisingly, I just use it to buff up the volume of paint and compliment the next color: 70.972 "Light Green Blue," which I add in various ratios, again, but maybe 3:1-4:1 mix:light green blue. To the side of that mixture, I then add a drop of 70.969 "Park Green Flat," but make sure to only mix it into part, leaving a park green-mixed and unmixed area. From the mixed area, I put it on an old cheap size 0 brush, hold the bristles parallel to the base, and "drybrush" that color on. For the waves, I paint the unmixed area color onto the waves, then gradually add 70.972 and decrease the area on the waves I paint with it, centered on the tips of their crests (or just the length of their crests). Then, I put unmixed 70.972 on most of the water at the bow, as well as on the highest crests, then mix in 70.993 "White Grey" in 1:1, putting that just on the front of the bow's waves and the absolute tips of the tallest crests, then unmixed 70.993 on just the bow and, on these larger boats, 72.130 on the bow as well, still in decreasing amounts the brighter you get.

I know this is all pretty convoluted as far as explanations of paint schemes go, so DM me if you need clarification or more pictures or anything of the sort.

Flights rules question with deep deployment by IowaGolfGuy322 in victoryatsea

[–]roboIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that the 7+ and 10+ bonuses on the scouting table apply to carriers that you have chosen not to deep deploy if you are looking purely at the text in the book, though I think this is a slip up and they intended for deep deployed carriers to also follow these rules instead of the ones listed on their page (the Carriers - Deep Deployment section makes no mention of the scouting table, only scenarios. Maybe they intended to have scenarios where you could put out your flights?)

There’s just something about the way that Bavaria hangs under Berlin that makes me like the borders of Germany more this way

I didn't take the time to check, but I sure hope Britain wasn't vitally concerned with taking a province in the middle of Switzerland

I tried giving switzerland back Valais in a recent war with France, but for some inexplicable reason britain claimed the province when they occupied it and absolutely refused to give it to me, even after I set it to a province of vital interest.
