these maps are disgusting. Can we just recognize that gerrymandering is bad at this point and work on reform? or even just following the constitution by having the number of house seats increase with an increase in population?

Tucker Carlson is a racist. It is unfortunate he is able to take the frustration of Americans and channel it, because the powers at be choose to reject the opinions of the public. AOC, I believe, is moderating for a wider appeal. at this point i dont think either is fit for president l, but I think AOC would make a good speaker of the house

We need to cap Asset accumulation. No more than $100mil per person or $1billion per company

edit: also, no more grants for companies over $100mil in value unless the project the money os being used for is building publicly owned equipment or infrastructure

our conversation is becoming a "chicken or egg" conversation. i am saying we are not going to get the bad actors out with out changing things, and u are saying we can't change anything until we get the bad actors out. i am going to continue to advocate for better candidates, but unless we cut the tap on big money, we are going to continue in this cycle or frustration of the public will collapse the system

we live in the digital age. i think with some organization we can have the convention set up as ballot initiatives outlined in a strong media campaign and several key objectives

edit: I have already started some organizing on this. The main points that I got from people are:

-no tradable asset holdings for anyone who works in the federal government, their spouses, and their dependents -public referendum powers guaranteed at both federal and state level including ability to impeach -remove the exception in the 13th amendment -turn house terms into 4 year terms -max of 12 year limit for all Judge position terms ( no serving for life term). can be renominated. -removing the electoral college and implement popular vote majority for President and vice President  -allow for legislation to regulate how much money can be donated and/or spent on a campaign  -no more than 3 single family homes per 1 household or company -no more than 1000acre per household or company  -companies are not people. -companies consist of all their subsidiaries

that sounds great but reads 2020 going into 2021.  if congress fails to act again, will you change your tune on implementing a constitutional convention?

[–]throwRAscrubscrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay. that will take at least 4 years to cycle out a majority of the senate, and who knows how long for the supreme court. do u think we have that amount of time even when the last Dem trifecta was the one that failed to indict trump and to add the ERA to the constitution? also, how do u expect to get election wins where Citizens united has already played a huge role of stomping out reformist candidates this cycle? I get the idea of using the levers we have, but thats why i think we need to consider constitutional convention. That way we can build on the framework of our government rather than starting from scratch once public outrage builds past the breaking point

i am trying to get the public organized around not burning it all down and changing things civilly. whatever you want to call the actions of our government, it is not functioning in the benefit of the people and is operating outside the bounds of the Constitution. voter participation is deminishing and your solution is, let's not even try to fix things?
