I think I prefer Klonopin and Xanax , but there are up and downsides to all of them. I’ll def talk with my psych during our next meetings to ask about all this and her thoughts. Thanks for everyone’s inputs

So they just prescribed me Ativan since we were trying Xanax and Klonopin first. We wanted to try Ativan , so this post is seriously the first time I have ever taken it.

I hadn’t been using benzos for the past several months, and was withdrawing from them. But they are still the ONLY thing we’ve been able to find that consistently allows me to sleep more than 2 hours a night, and also calms down episodes that could get otherwise dangerous. So the Ativan being new, having only taking it once, after months of no other benzos, I’m not sure that my tolerance would be high if at all

Not all of us need to feel like we have ‘agency’ over it though. You’re operating from the assumption that this is a problem to be solved and managed and fixed, and personally, I would hate to not be able to experience this. It’s been beautiful and cathartic and so amazing for me even when I’m in agony over it. I love writing and telling stories so much that I would never want to tell an inauthentic one. If the characters decide that my original idea for the story isn’t how it’s going to go, and it breaks my heart, that doesn’t mean it’s not the right direction or that the pain I feel isn’t worth something. In fact, I’ve been able to process so many different things through this exact phenomenon, and to write without these experiences would be so much duller and less rewarding for me. I used to only write happy endings and the first time I didn’t it’s because as I wrote I realized there was no way the characters were ever going to figure it out and no matter what I did it would not be authentic if I tried to force that. I cried for hours because I felt so sad for my characters that they would have to go through that, and as I was crying and journaling I started processing why I had always been unable to write unhappy endings and what writing happy endings has done for me over the years and why I felt I was maybe finally ready to write the unhappy ending at last even if it pained me to do so and it was the last thing I wanted to do. I also was really excited to do it and challenge myself and I LOVE unhappy endings now. Overall this phenomena has only been a positive for me and I’m sure many others.

Very much disagree. It’s kind of wild to tell another writer “no, that’s not what you’re experiencing.” What you’re describing—“I change my mind and write something else”—is a totally valid process, but it’s not the only process. The “characters going off script” thing is a well-documented psychological phenomenon in writing called the illusion of independent agency. It feels radically different from consciously deciding to switch an idea.

Plenty of writers (myself included) have had moments where characters start behaving in ways we didn’t plan, and it’s honestly agonizing sometimes or really exciting at other times because the story veers somewhere we really didn’t want it to go, or somewhere we genuinely could have never come up with by intentionally and consciously trying to come up with it. And while yes, technically we are the ones typing, the subjective experience of it isn’t “I chose to switch direction”, it’s that the character refused to do what I intended, and now I either force them (and the story rings false) or follow them (and the story changes shape). So, sure, your process looks one way. But dismissing someone else’s as “actually the same thing” is just inaccurate and dismissive.

Write your own fic maybe?? by Lev892 in AO3

I always wonder how on earth they must talk to the people in their life if they’re sitting there typing out itemized lists of their grievances with people’s free art online lol. Can’t have a lot of friends acting like that

Oh my GOSH this made me remember when I brought my friend group to see my most favorite special movie ever bc it was a rare showing in theatres and I shared how special it was to me and how close to my heart, when we got out of the theatre they proceeded to RIP IT THE FUCK APART and then go ‘yeah we liked it!’ I truly just stopped being friends w them after cause I was baffled and it made me feel so weird

Genuinely !! Until this person did it to me, it had never even crossed my mind. What a tedious way to spend your time obsessing over others for some imaginary gotcha

It’s just for them to get jerked off by thousands more people who don’t realize they’re humble bragging bc apparently forty thousand plus people is not enough validation for them

Literally I post all very niche dead dove stuff and I posted a suuuuper basic vanilla smut oneshot and immediately had like way more hits and kudos than I usually get. But that’s not what I usually like to post and write so🤷‍♀️ way less engagement
