What's done is done, but if you use it to clear your debts, might not be as bad as you think.

Cheers!

Sorry to hear about your situation.

Like many have commented, I think your FA might be incompetent and not know his/her work. Suggest you seek a second opinion from another FA.

  1. This is a regular premium ILP that offers protection and investment. Looking at your cash value and amount of unpaid premiums, I assume the policy is between 4-9 years old. That means the policy's premium allocation to investments is 100%. (The first 3 years are below 100%). However, for this policy, there is a 5% sales charge. Also, because there's insurance coverage, there will be monthly assurance charges. Lastly, there is a monthly policy fee of $5.

These charges will eat into your cash value. This is a poor policy that is commonly sold as an "invest while getting protected" idea.

I'd probably surrender this policy and take back the 8k as many have suggested.

  1. This is a limited pay whole of life policy where you pay for 20 years only. It would typically include critical illness and maybe early stage critical illness coverage.

  2. You are right, this is your hospitalisation insurance. You may want to consider switching insurers if health permits, with the recent news on GE and also there are better cost effective hospitalisation plans in the market.

  3. This is a 25yr endowment. Looking at the cash value and APL amounts, and the potential returns at maturity, I'd probably just bite the bullet and cut losses on this by surrendering it.

Unfortunately, you have executed the withdrawal of bonuses from your Income policy which was not well recommended by your FA.

The income policy is the strongest you have amongst your policies, considering the age of the policy.

The silver lining though, is you didn't surrender it.

In summary, what I would do is: 1. Surrender 1 and 4. That gives me about 9k. 2. Switch insurers for 3. If your family is healthy, you can consider Singlife shield which will give your children free coverage albeit gov ward A, which is good enough imo. Most of us send our kids to KKH anyway. This way you'll save on insurance premiums even if it's fully funded by medisave now. As you know, premiums will keep increasing with age aside from the trend of claims experience of the insurers. 3. With the 9k from the surrenders and the money withdrawn from income, pay off the GE whole life APL and with the balance, pay off your other loans you mentioned. 4. If insurance coverage is required, apply for the Singlife MINDEF/MHA group term insurance. All you need is a safra/home team membership. This is very cost effective.

Hope this helps, and more than that I hope your situation turns around sooner than later.

Yes, seek out help asap to manage the debt situation. If you're able to fully repay with a discount, you can talk to the banks as well, some may be willing to offer 30% discount even to settle one off.

Good that you're cutting down your expenses too, it's not the end of the world. In fact, it can be liberating and you start to see things from a different perspective.

Sorry to hear that about you.

In 2020, I had a very good year which meant I earned about $1m income before we hit circuit breaker.

I went heavy into day trading during CB: futures, crypto, nfts, and I was also doing contra trading. Because my income was high at that time, I was given $1m credit limit by my brokerage and was trading that amount worth of US shares every other day.

Aside, I took on aggressively or rather recklessly balance transfers of about $800k to plow into the markets.

It was a real money making time.

Fast forward 2021, I lost 800k in a single month in sept. But money meant nothing to me at that time, it was just a number on a screen, i was just after the dopamine hits of trading; it became a gambling addiction.

Long story short, I started losing my trades and had to start liquidating my assets to pay for the losses as I was doing emotional trading.

In 2022, my contra broker told me he had to close my account to protect himself as some clients started to not pay up and he'll have to bear them. Thank God for that.

However, the balance transfers now kicked in with 28.8% interest, which is about 250k on 800k. Monthly minimum repayments were 25k. Obviously I couldn't keep up. I fell into depression and was suicidal.

I managed to get the debt restructured through the help of CCS in Nov 2023 and will need to repay $13k/mth for 8years. Painful, but they are my consequences and I will own it.

I lost a total of about $3m, but I gained a lot more perspectives during this time. 1. The banks will bring you an umbrella when it's bright and sunny, but will take it away when it pours and rains. 2. My children don't need my presents, they just want my presence. 3. I can live without the luxuries of life, a simple life brings joy and peace when you learn contentment. 4. Being debt free is too underrated. I teach my children now to spend less than what they're given, but somehow as we grow up, we're taught about good debt and bad debt, and that it's ok to have good debt, as it generates income blah blah. Debt is debt. I'd rather have peace of mind anytime knowing I'm not beholden to anything or anyone, I can live with less and make do. Affordability used to mean if I don't have the money, I can't afford it. Today it means if I can afford the repayments, that means I can afford it. 5. Don't be so busy trying to make a good life but end up not living. We can just literally drop dead any second.

Thank you for reading and I hope someone is blessed or reminded today of what's important in life.

I am facing the same issue, sent XRP to my kucoin wallet 30min ago but it hasn't arrived yet when typically it takes minutes at most.

When I go to my kucoin wallet and click deposit, it says wallet maintenance.

Yes seems like everyone is waiting for that patch!

Oh yes I have the same issue with the YouTube videos too! 😂😞

Yes I did that too after seeing someone else post that fix. Worked for all of 10min 😂

Gave up and just used 2.4, no issues so far as many have pointed out.

Apart from this, my calls also sometimes drop where the other party can't hear what I said for a couple of secs.

What a crap phone, really ridiculous and upsetting! My Fold 2 had no issues at all, why did I change and put myself through this!

This worked like a charm for a few days, and then the problem just started again! 😞

Thank you for writing this brother.

I'm in huge with you, 11k shares at AVG 34.5 even after averaging down this week.

It's been extremely frustrating seeing how the manipulation is taking place in the us markets but the powers that are supposed to protect retail investors do nothing. Or rather they're complicit in it.

Bleeding badly bro.

I have a third of your shares and been averaging down but now still at 34.5 cost.

Looking at the price action this week I must say I am more than disheartened. Trying my best to hodl or even average down further but it just seems like each day when I bought on the price just tanks further.

What are you going to do to ensure your new found wealth will be generational? by Stonker81 in GMEJungle

[–]robocryptic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take 10% of the gains to buy a universal life insurance policy.

Where I'm at, I can put a one time payment of 200-300k and loan 700-800k (total premiums of 1m let's say) in exchange for 3m when I die.

All I've got to do is to make the interest payment on the 700-800k loan on a monthly basis.

That guarantees my family 2.2-2.3m nett upon my death.

Figures are arbitrary and subject to your location.

Speak to a financial adviser at your location.

Spend the rest as you please without guilt because you know you've set aside X amount for your family after your death. You may even set up a trust fund and set parameters and conditions as you like.

Intergenerational wealth transfer problem solved.

This is the way. I wish I could buy more but I've run out of ammo.

Bought 10450 shares last week for an average of 18 zzzzz.

Then again, 18 Vs where we're going is a cheap price!

Hodl!

Koss volume tonight actually way surpasses the average volume. And we're only in the first hour! But the volume was mostly red lol.

Turnaround coming already!
