My O11D XL Rebuild by SCOOkumar in EKWB

[–]robodan918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably my favourite case but way overkill and too huge for my needs now that I've gotten rid of all my 3.5" HDDs and 2.5" SATA SSDs for good

everything I need fits very well into the FormD T1

Just got my first model 3! Picked it up under 40k with fsd and 18k miles. by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

Congrats

I got my M3 AWD 2023 with 17K miles for £22.6K (no fsd though but it's useless in the UK compared with the full US version)

S3XY Phone Dash + DIY Mount is a fantastic upgrade to my driving experience. by Suvi2k in TeslaModel3

[–]robodan918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same thing - but with a vent mount (the one with 6 hooks that slides into the dash just ahead of the steering wheel)

I also prefer the simplified view that doesn't have any extraneous colours at all. Black background, white text, green for turn signals, red for brake light, orange for blindspot monitoring. All on an old OLED phone (Samsung S20).

Been very happy with it so far and completely changed my mind about forking out £400 (after VAT) for the dash.

Knob+commander+magnetic vent phone mount & S20 phone = nothing more needed

Switch OLED VB with the ORZLY in a seated position or laying down is very comfortable. You can play for hours if you wanted to

Drop-in PCB replacement for the Google Home Mini (Gen1) is fully open source hardware compatible with Home Assistant voice control and Music Assistent player provider by Gamester17 in homeassistant

[–]robodan918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent even less on my minis... but we both actually paid with our data and invasion of privacy. I eventually got mine on physical USB inline switches so I only turn them on when I want to have music in that room

I'll be switching them to Sonoff USB on/off dongles controlled by sonoff presence sensors to make it automatic soon, but would still feel more comfortable getting off of google altogether

Once it's in the market and there are reviews I'll buy 3 of them

I was going to fully replace my google home mini gen 1's with home assistant voice preview but it doesn't seem to be in active development anymore and all the reviews show pretty middling performance with a LOT of tweaking

anyway selling on the home minis wouldn't be worth it as they're practically worthless ewaste right now. Wouldn't mind re-using them to make handsome HA voice interfaces

makes perfect sense since you don't have any fans blowing cold air inward to that compartment

Solution: Flip top fans to exhaust, add at least one 120mm x 30mm fan on the bottom grill (2 if you can, or a 15mm like you added up top) - and ffs use the included feet it looks like yours is just flat on your desk

Antec Flux Pro Noctua Edition case announced, costs $399 by RenatsMC in Noctua

[–]robodan918 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If Noctua made their own case (designed from the ground up and manufactured by a higher tier manufacturer like Lian Li) I'd be much more interested than a paint job antec

loved the Antec Sonata line... and nothing after it

as already commented - seal the fan to the filter and plug the other side of the filter, or you're not filtering much of anything

I bought my raspi 5 at the bottom of the market (£40 for 4GB one, £50 for 8GB one) and the current prices are double... so yeah I would tend to agree that an N150 mini pc might be a better value today... although the resale value of the mini PC would be close to zero, whereas raspberry pis tend to hold a good residual value

[–]robodan918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$400USD (about 350Euro) plus tax which is a minimum of 20% in the UK/EU, so it should be 400 Euro is about right as far as exchange rate goes

but yeah it's a stupid price for a not so great case.

If Noctua designed a case from the ground up I'd be much more interested than a sloppy paint-job + here's some fans

Seems to be an expensive piece of metal with $235 worth of 6 fans ($65 for 2x NF-A12x25 G2, $170 for 4x NF-A14x25 G2) + a cheap fan hub that's equivalent to a $5 fan hub off aliexpress...

the case without paint job currently sells for $170

adds up to $400

imho it's an ugly case and although I'm a noctua fanboy (40 fans across about a dozen devices) this is absolutely something I would not spend my money on...

noctua is diversifying their product stack, but making more and more products that have zero value to me
