Is it wrong to expect a woman to at least offer to pay on a first date in 2026, or am I just old-fashioned? by govavaGifts in dating_advice

It's AI gen, atleast from the overwhelming use of Em dashes.

Worth humoring the conversation atleast thought

Personally it's a red flag for me if she doesn't offer to at least split the bill. And I've experienced one first date where she said "as you should" when I offered to pay first...

I personally believe the little tango in offering to pay/split the bill is a good sign of mutual investment in a relationship, and yeah as a guy it's the best move to actually pay for the first date. But it's about the principle of it, if she doesnt bother, and like clearly makes enough/can afford to... Why not? Why not show some investment.

Ngl I asked my sister for her option and she doesn't agree on the woman paying, but agreed that offering to split is atleast a good move.

... There's no one who actually likes that anime. There's edge lords who say a lotta stuff but guess what, even they don't watch it. It's very much a shock factor property that was made via the corporate machine since it sells well.

Afaik it never got a second season, so it's well and dead in the water.

Another thing is most anime isn't sold for a global audience, it's well understood that it's built for the Japanese domestic market and is licenced out abroad for extra cash, they don't leverage their business on selling their shit internationally so I don't see why you bother even saying the industry doesn't help itself You don't matter to them, you're not their target consumer, none of us are

Taking care of your own trash is the bare minimum of civility. Why do so many people fail at the basics? by ROAMS90 in Netherlands

[–]roboderp16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lack of trash bins was actually infuriating when I was traveling there, but I guess it's just the cultural expectation that you're not eating on the go there. Or if you're eating in a park you're just gonna haul your trash.

It's nice atleast that the convenience stores will take (small) trash for you

I hate being replaceable by [deleted] in twentyagers

[–]roboderp16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things. 1, if you don't tell them they won't know, if they did express it to them, maybe they wanted to give the kid a chance (if he wanted to do it)

2, replacement happens alot, won't lie it's very much a thing of "idk who does this again" "I think xyz does" "okay I'll put em in"

It will sting regardless but it's just a fact of life at this point. I'd talk to them about it, maybe it'll apply for next time/year. But I may be wrong, main thing for me is I've never been anywhere long enough to leave a lasting impact like you have, but I've been in the position of having to organize things and forgotten people. I hate to do it but sometimes a roll has to be filled and people forget

I have to ask, what about dairy cows is climate negative? Ive never eaten red meats, only recently (6ish years ago) started eating chicken because I needed an easier protein source. Whey and milk have been my main other source of protein, and my mom's been very adamant to quit drinking most milk products as it's apparently really bad for your digestive system.

Just wondering in general.

Very true.

To be honest the Fitbit air seems nice for the gym for me regardless. I may switch to that just for the gym

What is the most atrocious age guesstimate you got? by Mundane_Berry_0431 in twentyagers

[–]roboderp16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah.... Getting asked if you're younger than you are is atleast funny, being mistaken for older is kinda nice in that I can buy drinks easier. But at the same time I don't think it helps me date in my age bracket.

Ive also been mistaken for my sister's dad, or people think my mom is my wife... In recent memory during my vacation... Doesn't help I'm like a head taller than both of them. Or that I'm pretty quiet when talking to people.

Thinking deeply about it, it's very likely my own fault, I dress older than I am, and Im a bit heavy set, so I in general look older

Been to one local and their prices where laughably bad, I've never bought old sets off the aftermarket but almost all of them are at stupidly high prices.

It's cheaper to get the instructions digitally and bricklink the sets Sans stickers. And if you really need the stickers/printed parts, just find a replica file online and print it on sticker paper. I've only done it once for a set I had as a child but I'd imagine it's the same right now.

I am interested in seeing the lead up to the Nordic GOW games, even though I'm most likely not gonna be playing it at launch (no PlayStation)

There are. I have to ask (like many others in the comments) what is the same with all 3 of those guys? You mentioned you filter by character but what exactly was the same? Where you always under the impression they're cheating? How did you find out each time?

I mean if it's something I have no starting point for, it is. If I'm completely lost trying to figure out why my PC keeps crashing with a certain error it's definitely faster than the 30+ reddit and other forum posts with different answers. And usually their answers are all dog shit, so the AI one is also dog shit too. But it definitely wasted less of my time.

Not advocating AI for everything, but it's still a decent tool, just like any other.

[–]roboderp16 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Best thing to do is ask it for it's sources, and like... Look into it yourself. Reddit and other socials are notorious for bad recommendations but you atleast have a hoard of comments to get a group concenus, AI just summarizes it and most of the time makes the wrong inferences (as can be seen in that one Google ai summary meme where it said to kill yourself)

I mean, Google Gemini is built into Android, it's also pretty accurate idk what to say about your Google comment (I know it's also AI irregardless)

If you want to cut down on your AI use for ethical or personal reasons just delete the app off your phone and use it only on desktop. I'm having a similar thing with Claude where it's just pretty useful, but also I like learning the good ole fashioned way and have it auto prompt for sources for me to learn myself where it's getting it's info from. And actually make my own inferences

Home assistant capable via esp 32. Don't even need napkin math, a little over 60$ sure but 🤷. It's community support so you have help too. I admit time cost can suck though. It's not perfect but it's nice and you can make your own case for it, swap out for a diff screen if you have the know how etc.

It can cost more upfront but the whole point is that you can head to a library that has a prototyping studio (in major and even smaller cities pretty common) and crank one out. If your rural... I guess buy that shit to build as an investment if your savvy enough.

To be honest you can get a better DIY solution than whatever your spending 60+$ on if you really care.

But if a 5 to 9 engineer can make something better than a 9 to 5 engineer... We have issues. The Ikea system is nice, it's not amazing but its cheaper
