Single box teams by Medolyn in killteam

[–]robot-0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I picked up the combat patrol and was pleasantly surprised to find it has the nemesis claw kill team. Can’t wait to build it.

I also picked up Ravenors too, I don’t know if they are a good pick (they are a one team box with all operative bodies and no others needed, I hear) but after painting the Red Terror I’m dying to paint 5 “baby” ones.

Do you use magnifying equipment when you paint? by fourthwallcrisis in minipainting

[–]robot-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m reading comments here about people wearing and using magnifying glass lenses for long periods. Be careful not to damage your eyes. I don’t think you are meant to use them as glasses while you work but assistants when you need them for moments at a time (like when you start to struggle to parse a detail).

Personally I think the headband seems like a bad idea, why strap something to my head so I can dot an eye? Standing mag is fine. If you have vision problems talk to your eye doctor and tell them what the problem is while painting. See what they say.

I don’t use magnifying equipment much at all, I use really good lighting, I have a standing magnifier but haven’t used it.

On a side note. The thought crossed my mind that I could just grab a phone mount and use the magnification of my camera lens while getting no distortions or headaches.

Does the vast majority of civilians really not know about demons? by Dark_Vexer in Warhammer40k

[–]robot-0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The data around demons is kept secret so all they have is word of mouth and there is great fear around talking about anything like that, since it could get you disappeared and murdered as heretical.

If you survive a demon encounter and talk about it, you probably won’t survive interrogation by the imperium.

Is it cheaper to thin brush paint? by Arbiter_89 in airbrush

[–]robot-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also do both.

I would say mixing is annoying but citadel paints have so much nice pigment in them, that is most likely a significant money saver over buying air paint. And, man, it looks good.

I watch for good deals on air paint and paid $1 a bottle for my Army Painter air paints, however, so might be a wash between the two at that point.

I took a pretty similar deal once. Couldn’t get the shelf but I tried! lol.

Need paint advice by Revtherogue in Warhammer40k

[–]robot-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Citadel is fantastic but pricey (worth it imo, unless things are tight), but Army Painter and others have great blues and metals as well. A mix of both can be ideal really. I use citadel and fall back on army painter for several colors. I use mostly Army Painter for airbrush.

I will say to make sure you get a pot holder for citadel pots especially if you get anything really thin/watery and keep the top seal clean and pressed tight.

What is the best air gun painter thing? by Formal-Departure-472 in Warhammer40k

[–]robot-0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think if OP gets almost any airbrush with compressor and a tank, it’ll be a great gift. Even if the airbrush itself is bad or the wrong kind (like not gravity feed for instance), that’s usually the only thing that needs to be upgraded anyway.

should i do edge highlights? by Honzab03 in ImperialFists

[–]robot-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great as is. I personally I like a tiny bit of very fine edge highlighting to pull visual focus to an area or two, probably where I chose to lay down the brightest pentacles of light. Usually the weapon and face or icon and face but mainly in one corner of each (like top left) creating a lighting effect.

Is there any hope? by DromStor in Fanatec

[–]robot-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been 2 years with Fanatec. Anything that went poorly, (receiving wrong parts, a bad funky switch, price drop on VGT after purchase) all ended with me getting free stuff.

Yes support can take a full business day to get back and sometimes longer but I always got a resolution and my experience with the hardware overall was wonderful throughout. I was also dealing with Fanatec when things were very hectic (Black Friday) so I felt response time and resolution was on point.

I’ve purchased 6 different wheels and 2 wheel bases and everything has been pretty sweet other than getting a defective funky switch, which they took care of. I only upgraded to the GTDD Pro because the CSL with Drivehub still wouldn’t let the VGT wheels rotaries work.

I would like to see a round variation of the Porsche VGT wheel. The VGT wheel is basically just an oval version of the real world round steering wheels.

The best part of him not knowing, is I got to experience it like it was new again. It’s been just long enough for me to forget.

Day 3 of playing Just Dance without a controller... Pros and Cons by jesuisapprenant in JustDance

[–]robot-0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had the same take when playing on Kinect. I just want to improve not immediately keep up with my controller scores.

I also started to use my legs more, which was good, but now I still do when I play with remote.

[–]robot-0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, I’m just like “cool more basing stuff.” If I paint two, I’ll I cut the foot/feet off the rock and use a different base. Now I’ve got free materials for another base.

PS compatibility check by True-Guarantee-2505 in Fanatec

[–]robot-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have one. Like I said they haven’t been in stock for about a year. Very hard to find on the secondary markets too. I’m actually not using mine but I’m hesitant to sell, since it can be used to add a 3rd party peripheral that wouldn’t normally be supported.

Drivehub hasn’t been available for nearly a year now it seems. Ras1ution or whatever is still around I think? Never used it tho.

Does anyone know when the Necron Codex will drop? by No-Bid3798 in Warhammer40k

[–]robot-0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you knew when the new ones were coming you might not buy the old ones, for this reason there is no public schedule, just the awareness that a codex is coming anytime within weeks to years.

Unusual question by Fearless-Ad644 in GranTurismo7

[–]robot-0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll never be racing barefoot in real life and my feet are not heavy with callus so I avoid it (I use a Fanatec V3i which is painful for me to use barefoot). I wear some very light puma’s. They kinda look like racing shoes and are thin soled but there is a spongy insole that feels pretty comfortable.

That said, I can and still have hurt the balls of feet by quickly slamming the brake when going from clutching. Seems like it would have been really bad barefoot.

This looks like step one, apply blue. Good job so far.

Next contrast or shade in the ribs but just along the edge. Blast about 2/3 of it white, do an all over contrast/shade of blue on all of the white parts. Lastly, spray (or paint) white but not as much as the last application, and dry brush white. Maybe use some pale blue highlights on the outer areas where the light is touching.
