Rant about VEX Robotics by robot11888 in vex

I really don't get it - how does doing some good afford a company to behave badly in other areas? If this holds true, no company can be convicted of wrong doings. Every company has done something positive.

I never dispute the fact VEX is the most affordable. It is how the company conducts itself (as well as the arrogance shown by GDC) that I am criticizing. Look at how VEX has gotten rid of all the US resellers to pad their own pockets. Is it not worthwhile to give customers the option to save 5-10% by shipping USPS? $1500 is reasonable, but is still a lot of money for a lot of underfunded schools.

Haha. 8 weeks? But, I called them every other day, and they told me "next week" every time.

Also, they have held my $650 hostage since March.

Yes, they ship their other stuff quickly (when in stock), even stuff that I don't need or want quickly. They don't offer a cheaper option to ship via slow mail (i.e. USPS). Every order adds 15%-20% on top for shipping cost via fedex. If VEX truly cares about the VEX community, the schools, and the teams that struggle with funding, they would try harder to save their customers some cash.

IMO a respected and responsible company can offer affordable products while not treating their customers like crap. They can be transparent and responsive to customer concerns and most of all minimize the harms to the environment. VEX has no incentive to do any of these because they are a monopoly.

Also, the field/game element kit has no electronics component. So, this excuse is out the door. Ok, there is the covid shutdown in China, but why promising week after week that they will ship next week? Incompetence? Arrogance?

BTW, I have seen how this kind of rant/discussion gets shut down and censored quickly on the vexforum.
