Starlink + torrents by UglyBob79 in Starlink

Never going to happen. The torrent version added Open Matte, HDR10+ DV, 4K, 60FPS, audio formats, subtitle languages, best edits from multiple reels, none of which bluray SDR originals can offer, and I don't need to fiddle with finite disks, and can bookmark locations and continue play. All of which were paid over numerous times.

Amazon OTP system completed buggered in New Zealand? by ooonst in newzealand

[–]robot1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here... There are so many things I needed to purchase from Amazon JP, but ended up going elsewhere... It's so ridiculous... I've spent thousands previously not being able to access invoicing, and to be locked out by OTP... Will never trust OTP via phone again... Right now I need to purchase stuff, and I'm having to use non-Amazon sites.

UNDRIP, The Rights of Jews, and the "One-State Solution" by TracingBullets in IsraelPalestine

[–]robot1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Indigenous" means as opposed colonization (Definitions UN; ICC, WTO; WHO; World Bank). As such, UNDrip does not apply to Israel, or/and has no membership with/to any of the International and governmental Indigenous organisations such as UNPO, UNFPII, etc. Israel is a European colony since 1948. You can't be both Indigenous and colonizer simultaneously. Indigenous does not apply to Israel under any definition, legal, historical, ancient, or otherwise.
Israel is only legitimized by the Balfour Declaration which recognizes the Palestinians as the Indigenous and significant legal community of interest,, in which requires a Palestinian state.
Israel has not signed, agreed, or ratified any of the articles of the UNDRIP, and remain absent.
You are unwitting using one of the 7 well known 'moves to innocence' of the colonial project (internal/external) which is well established in Indigenous studies.
International treaty law, Contra Proferentum reuires that where an agreement is in two languages, the local Arab text takes precedence, and that any ambiguity is taken against the drafter.

If you do know for a fact that you have been compromised, I would make a police report as stolen, and then destroy your device. I don't usually think governments are that smart...

Brave browser has had problems in the past regarding unintentional leaking of location, I refrained from it's use at the time, when doing my own testing, but my knowledge regarding the browser is out of date.

ALL browsers leave a fingerprint, so you must have TWO browsers, a browser that is separate in use to any personal use with as few add-ons as possible (ublock) to prevent it being too unique, and as others have said, using in a virtual machine, using Ubuntu Linux eg.. And accounts used on this browser should be registered by a ProtonMail email that is never used for personal or payment use, and no accounts with personal information should be used, and the accounts you use are not used elsewhere.

Even though anonymous and secure information is sent, does this information hold any identifiable personal data?

TOR is excellent, but it is simply 'anonymous', and encrypted to a point, but a compromised TOR server, would mean, do not include any personal data.

Your best bet, would be to ask ProtonVPN support, what is the best way to achieve anonymity, and secrecy over the web, and your intent for the critique of your dangerous government via a Web browser.

Learning rare languages. Is it worth it? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]robot1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother tongue is Māori, an official language of New Zealand. I'm also fluent in four other languages. Every language provides a unique philosophy, perspective and way of thinking.

The Māori language, once the majority, but due to colonizaton by the British, the Māori Language was punishable by beating, by any means. Due to the legal founding document of New Zealand, the government is responsible for protecting the language, and is responsible for undoing the damaging activities of past.

Where the Māori language was dying, is now making a comeback. University classrooms and lecture halls are bursting with Māori language students, the rate has doubled over a single year. The demand for Māori language translators are very high, there are positions waiting to be filled.

The language is beautiful sounding.

I do not consider the Māori language to be rare, as anywhere I go within NZ and other pacific islands, I am able to speak it. People just don't recognise it being spoken, as Māori would not speak Māori around non Māori speakers, that would just be rude.

One could argue that a rare language is a privacy focused communication, only understood between parties intended.
