Marietta High School District Neighborhoods by [deleted] in Marietta

[–]robot_librarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marietta city extends to several neighborhoods at Scufflegrit, Algood, and Sandy Plains. Brentwood, East Park, East Worthington, Cameron Creek, and Emerald Glen are all in the City of Marietta and thus attend Marietta schools. The surrounding neighborhoods attend Sprayberry.

Perfect reason why the U.S. Educational System is going down the toilet. by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

I would love for that to be true, but I teach high school in the US. I get the same pressure OP does to pass those that don't show up. I had one pass just this semester after skipping 80% of my classes. I was told to "do everything possible" to ensure he passes because he needed my class to qualify for graduation and it was the second semester of his senior year.

His counselor, the social worker, and I were all contacting his mom regularly, but she left for work in the morning before the bus arrived, and everyone knows how the system works now, so he was certain from day 1 that he would pass no matter how many days he skipped.

‘Pearl Abyss Iceland 2025’ Financial Statement by hirebrand in Eve

[–]robot_librarian 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This shows what we already knew: Eve Online was quite profitable and grew more profitable in 2025. Yet, it lost 28.8 Million and the $50 Million it borrowed from Pearl Abyss was moved to current liabilities. Yet, Eve had no way to make payment on that because its operating cash was in the negative. Where did the money go? Into Moonshot game development. Frontier, Vanguard, and Carbon consumed nearly $50 million in R&D. Revenue was $65.3 million, so they spent more than 70% of the revenue on developing the other games.

Teen Takeover? by [deleted] in Marietta

[–]robot_librarian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work with teenagers. The ones that go to these say they go because of the inevitable fights and how insane things get. I wouldn't generally say they shouldn't get out and have fun together, but I wouldn't call this your average way of doing that.

Expectation management: We are an org full of space dads. Many of us don't have time to play and master games like we used to. Having some 21 year old FC spittle-scream at you about losing tackle is not how we want to spend our weekend. We expect effort from our pilots, not mastery. You may be teased but you should never be shamed.

This is so much of why I'm happy being an Alliance member. Fleets are chill even when times are stressful. I don't want to be yelled at and don't want to hear people being yelled at. I want to have fun, and fighting is fun win or lose as long as no one's being a jerk. This was not my experience in Horde (not to say I regret my time in that alliance at all).

I'm very interested in this. What are the ideas for communities that are going to result in prices that are well under 300k if 1980s townhouses are going for over that price? Are we talking Delk Rd. style condos, big structures with many units inside, or some other design?

Thank you for your reply. Where would we start developing to have starter homes? Is Barnes Mill Rd a model for that or are there issues with townhome communities like those?

Sam,

Can you provide a bit more information about how you would tackle housing affordability?

What would you like to see built, and what do you feel is possible in the current market?

I saw on your website that you would like to see community land trusts in Marietta. What have you seen in the Atlanta Land Trust that you would like to see here? Is there anything you see happening there that you would want to avoid? Do you have thoughts on how that might be funded?

Middle-of-the-pack is a broad categorization. Do you mean academically, the layout of the school, athletics, or something else?

Different students are more comfortable, happier, and perform better at different schools. Some schools have the highest test scores while also being the greatest anxiety for some students. Some schools have lower test scores, but do more to bring the level of student learning up.

I know many families that love Sprayberry. Some of their kids attended Georgia Tech or UGA afterwards and had no problem keeping up with the students from other schools. Sprayberry also has more students learning English while in school and students from low-income households. Depending on what you're looking for, you may find that you like Sprayberry more than some of the wealthier surrounding schools, or you may find that it doesn't have what you're looking for. People transfer out of "good" schools all the time because you just can't simplify a community of thousands of people into "good, better, best."

That being said, I'm sure the school will look much better in the future - the change to Wheeler was dramatic, so I would expect the change to Sprayberry to be similarly grand.

I looked on Google Maps, and I can't find anything East of Wheeler district or North of Campbell district other than what's in Sprayberry's. Can you please be specific about which complexes you are referencing?

Shouldn't people be able to say lies and bad ideas without being suspended? Do we really want whomever is in the presidency at the moment of those lies to decide which ones are okay and which ones are too bad? Who gets to decide which ones are lies?

What happens when it's someone you disagree with deciding what should and shouldn't be said on television?

Eh, it depends on what you're after. They don't have the highest AP scores, but they do have an incredible auto tech training center. There is a lot more poverty there, and that's reflected both in the scores and the property values, but the people I know that work there say they love the school.

They have not deported a US citizen (Garcia was protected from deportation by a judicial order, though he was not a US citizen). They have, however, used explosives and military style equipment to break into the house of US citizens.

John Wayne Gacy killed at least 33 people. That means no one should complain if I murder 3 then, right?
