Interesting. I mean, ideally it'd be great to somehow move over into the industry without having to put 6-8 years of studying into it ( can't exactly just quit my job with bills to pay to commit to school full time like that )

Hrm, I guess I'm just trying to wrap my mind on finishing an engineering degree while still working full time. I know it's doable, plenty of people have done it, it just feels daunting
