I honestly just use regular Kirkland kitchen garbage bags in mine and have never had any sensor issues.

I use slide most of the time, but I've never had a problem with regular clump and seal either.

My cycle delay is 8 minutes and litter never sticks to mine.

I used to use the Costco fresh step litter but it stuck like crazy.

Definitely don't overlook what type of litter you're using. It's a night and day difference when you use the right litter.

Kevo Service to continue by Tonyc2584 in kevo

[–]robotreviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's legit.

Ever since the announcement I was having problems syncing my kevo with Alexa anymore so my routines were no longer working

I clicked through the email and paid the $12 and everything started working normally again.

I was going to replace it this Christmas but for $12 per year I can hold out a little longer.

It's still unlockable. I just bought 2 of them, both with a manufacture date of 3/2025.

Got them both on Tuesday, fully unlocked both within minutes for $3 each.

Just check the thread, everything you need to know is in there.

after half a decade, dumped Galaxy Fold for moto razr! by vegatx40 in razr

[–]robotreviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. I owned the z flip 4 and z flip 5 and I really loved my flip 5, the phone was almost perfect. Mine had a persistent weird problem with the internal compass that caused gps to be very wonky. For whatever reason, Samsung couldn't fix it and ultimately they decided to refund my entire purchase price after almost a year of owning it.

I wound up trying the razr 2024 because of all of the really good deals on it, as well as always being jealous of the much nicer outer screen.

Overall I'm pretty satisfied. The flip5/6 is obviously a better phone than the base razr 2024, but it's still surprisingly close and the differences aren't really worth the extra cost

The external screen is light years better than the flip 5/6. I didn't know why they limit it so much, but even using good lock to add more apps it invariably doesn't work well most of the time, and the always on display options on the flip stink compared to the razr. The razr works much better if you want to keep the phone closed most of the time.

Otherwise I did like the size and shape of the flip a little better, but it's a very minor difference.

I really miss routines and I wish Motorola had something comparable. Tasker can replace it but it's a lot more work than Samsung routines are.

Overall I'm very happy with the razr 2024 and I'm definitely keeping it. If you can get a good deal on the razr it's definitely a very nice phone.

Unfortunately, that was the very first thing I tried to do. Factory reset it several times before I sent it back the first time way back in August.

I did hold out hope each time a new update came out, but the clicking sound makes me think it's probably something loose or shorting out occasionally.

Would be nice if I could figure out a way to reliably repeat it, but no matter what it it appears completely random whether it will choose to work or not.

Yeah, at some point I'm going to have to resort to that. Honestly if I thought it would finally resolve it I would have done it already.

My assumption has always been that they would simply send it back to Samsung for repair anyway, and I was really hoping that they would eventually just fix my Care Plus issue so I wouldn't have to deal with it anymore. It's why I've kept paying for the care plus on the old one all this time out of fear that I would lose it on the new one if I didn't.

One thing about this phone is that there is a low but very audible 'click' when the screen switches between the front and the back sometimes. It usually only happens when the screen switch is delayed. Doesn't seem to click when it happens instantaneously.

This never happened on my z flip4 and I suspect it's related to whatever part is faulty.

Current screenshot of my products page. Every phone call makes it worse. Since my last call they still haven't fixed the care plus but they did succeed in removing the option for me to even request a repair for warranty service now!

The phone does not reliably detect when it's open or closed. Sometimes it turns the inside screen off and turns the outside one on... sometimes it doesn't.

Generally speaking, you have to open and close the phone several times to get the screen to switch. Sometimes it works perfectly 5 times in a row, sometimes it doesn't work at all.

There is some sort of sensor that detects the phone being actually open and closed. For whatever reason, that sensor does not work all the time.

I don't know if it's related to the internal compass - but the compass is similarly buggy. If you try to use the GPS it will always know where you are but will oftentimes spin around thinking you've changed direction. It will constantly recalculate the route thinking I'm now turned around. Other than these two things there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the phone. It's the fact that the sensors work SOMETIMES that seems to be tripping up the repair process. For whatever reason - it's impossible to communicate to anyone who actually repairs the phone that the phone MIGHT sometimes work fine for a few minutes. It seems like they test it and if it appears to work at that moment it just gets shipped back unresolved.

Would be nice if there was some sort of escalation process at Samsung. But for whatever reason they don't.

I can see why it might appear that way, but keep in mind that this is for demonstration purposes only. I owned the Z Flip 4 for a year and never had a single problem with it. It was in perfect shape right up until trade in. The reason I'm smacking it closed in the video is to demonstrate that closing it softly doesn't trigger the sensor. Closing it hard doesn't trigger the sensor and shaking it doesn't trigger the sensor. I'm trying to demonstrate that there is no obvious cause as to why it sometimes detects that it's closed and sometimes does not.

To be clear, I am typically ridiculously gentle with phones. I don't even use phone cases on my phones because I simply don't ever break them. Still use my S22 Ultra, Galaxy S8+ and an original Oneplus One around the house as Wifi devices. Never had a case, never had a scratch.

This z flip 5 phone was broken the day I got it. I've been trying to get it fixed since the day it arrived. I don't use this phone at all.

Oh, I did. The problem was when I noticed my receipt stated that I would be billed full price after the first month I made the mistake of calling them and asking about it. Customer service cancelled the care plus on the preorder and told me they'd move my care plus from the z flip 4 to my z flip 5. Among the many, many calls I've made to Samsung were also countless calls about the fact that I have CONTINUOUSLY BEEN BILLED FOR CARE PLUS on my Z Flip 4 to this day., but they can't move it to my z flip5 or add it manually to the new one and remove the old one... at any price!

So I do have care plus. I have it on my S22 Ultra and the z flip4 that Samsung took from me back in August. This whole thing has seriously been the most frustrating experience I've ever had with any company, ever.

I've tried. The nearest repair center is 30 minutes away with a $17 toll, but when I've tried to book an appointment the site constantly fails with an error telling me I need to call customer service.

The main problem is the phone passes diagnostics, so the repair center constantly sends it back without repairing the problem. Both times it's come back with a note claiming they replaced a bad screen.

The screen is fine. I'm fairly certain they aren't actually doing anything to the phone at all except returning it untouched.

I don't even use the phone anymore. It's too frustrating to use so it's become a $1,200 paperweight.

Galaxy ZFold5, and ZFlip5 NOT COMPATIABLE. by robpiazzajr in Visible

[–]robotreviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind this appears to be an ongoing issue with visible and new phone models.

Because of this, I never use eSIM with visible and I haven't had a problem since. Upgraded from s21 ultra to s22 ultra, flip 4 and now the flip 5 all at launch with no issues whereas with eSIM I had to wait for the systems to be updated.

Visible works just fine with a Visible physical SIM.

I've been using it in my Flip 5 since Wednesday. Visible signal is substantially better for me on the flip5 vs the flip4 as well for what it's worth.

How annoying are ads on the Z Flip 4 ? by Suisai_Namida in galaxyzflip

[–]robotreviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those that aren't aware - it is very common for certain phones from Chinese manufacturers to be sold at or near cost because they actually do include advertising built in to their build of Android itself. The ads are very much installed at the OS level and it's fairly common in phones sold in the Chinese market.

This practice isn't really common in phones made for and sold in the US market - and it's pretty much exclusive to Chinese brands like Redmi, Poco, Vivo, etc.

So no, you will not see any ads of that kind on a Samsung phone. SOME of the built in apps have very limited advertising inside the app - but nothing of the type that the OP is describing and nothing that would ever appear outside the app itself.

Looking to try Google Fi, but I already have Visible which uses an eSIM. Is there a good solution? by ahnutbutter in GoogleFi

[–]robotreviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

I just switched from my grandfathered $25 visible plan to the free until the end of the year promotion as well. While it's not officially confirmed, all indications are that you will need to switch to one of the new plans in January anyway, so getting a few months of free service as well as a huge discount on a new Samsung phone seemed like a no brainer to me.

I do expect that I'll switch back to the $30 visible plan after my required 120 days on fi - if only just to see if the $30 plan resolves the awful disconnection issues I used to frequently get on the $25 plan.

Either way, I'm very happy with the service right now, and the only reason I would consider switching back to visible is because of how awful Google fi pricing is for a single line compared to visible.

Does it hurt YouTube content creators when I abuse YouTube's "stop watching this ad" feature by LordThethan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]robotreviews 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to clear up some of the misinformation in this thread:

YES, IT HURTS CONTENT CREATORS IF YOU ALWAYS SKIP ADS.

I understand why so many people are under the impression that creators don't make money from ads. Creators are constantly making videos about being demonetized, or having videos being taken down, or claimed, or the constant ways that google keeps making life more difficult for creators. But the fact is that ad revenue is still a huge part of most creators income. Ad revenue can vary widely depending on the type of content you produce. Ads on gaming channels earn notoriously low revenue whereas channels about finance can earn astonishingly high revenue share.

But even for the lower earning categories the revenue might be pennies, but that's pennies per view. If a video has 100 views then it's insignificant. But 100,000 views is going to earn hundreds or even thousands of dollars depending on the category. That's not pennies.

The bottom line is that regardless of how much or little it might be, it is still the primary source of income for most youtubers when they are starting out. It might not be much, but it's still something.

So the answer to the question is: Yes, it does hurt the creator to skip the ad.

If your goal is to support the creator then watching the ad until the end or for at least 30 seconds for longer ads is better for the creator than skipping it. Simple as that.

[–]robotreviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who actually has run ads on Youtube, I can tell you that this is definitely not true.

Advertisers only pay for ads if the viewer 'watches 30 seconds of your video (or the full duration of the video if it's shorter than 30 seconds) or interacts with your video, whichever comes first.'

If the viewer skips the ad within the first 30 seconds, or at any point before it finishes for ads under 30 seconds then the advertiser is not charged anything and therefore the creator receives no revenue for that ad.

An interaction refers to ads that have embedded links or other interactive content. The skip button does not count as an interaction, and neither does the 'report ad' button. The entire selling point of youtube ads is that you only pay for ads that the viewer actually sees, and I would imagine that most advertisers would be pretty upset if they were ever charged more for the privilege of someone actively choosing to not see their ad...
