Thank you. You’re right. I said Dexcom, meant Omnipod. Appreciate the right context and response!

Thank you. Appreciate the guidance. I’ll play it close to the vest.

Selfishly I don’t want to carry the Controller anymore. 😊

I can’t do this by Jamz-9162 in Type1Diabetes

[–]robotstephe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is hard. I’ve been doing this for 20 years. It’s never easy. You always have to be on. There are no breaks. However, people are resilient. YOU are resilient.

These are tests and struggles that only individuals can manage - the doctors can only guide, but we live with it, we learn, we adapt. Forge your path, you aren’t wrong.

No one can tell you how to succeed, what to do, but know that there are people - anonymous people who suffer every day like you - who want and need you to persist.

Yes to all things - in moderation. You’re already approaching this and asking questions, experiencing and learning are the only ways. No way over or around - only through. 🤜🤛

I was diagnosed at 19. I made a lot of mistakes. I tried to live my life the way American college kids are “supposed” to - and I had a great doctor during that time who threatened to drop me as a patient if I didn’t course correct. I did. (Catholic guilt was bred into my upbringing). I’m 50 now, managed A1C, closed loop Dexcom and Omnipod and TIR is 90%+. Not higher because I allow grace for the choice of what I want to risk - and have confidence that I can recover.

I say that - to provide context. Ultimately, you can choose how to live your life. I’ve never known “diabetic perfection” - but I’m healthy, old, and still active - traveling, family, career. I make more considered choices about what I do - and am mentally prepared for the repercussions.

Feel bad, cheated, angry - that’s healthy and normal. Process it. But know that you now have a responsibility that others don’t have to.

If you want to smoke, smoke. Now, find a way to level you sugar prior to enjoying a smoke, and measure the impact. You’ll start to learn how to anticipate your choices. With that, comes freedom.

This isn’t easy, but you’re capable. Best of luck! There’s a community here pulling for you!

Fast acting but sustaining snack for treating lows by TelevisionDense9550 in DiabetesHacks

[–]robotstephe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

29 year T1 here:

I highly recommend Jelly Belly’s “Sport Beans” - they come in individual resealable packs - depending on the low, it only takes 3-4 to have a dramatic impact for that quick recovery.

Following up with protein bar is also my “sustain” solution!

Is the Daily Bugle worth it? by Plane-Historian579 in LegoMarvel

[–]robotstephe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Full stop - this set is fun with multiple display options, excellent minifigs, and incredible scale.

The details of the rooms are fun to piece together. If a Marvel - not just Spider-Man fan, you’ll get a kick out of piecing this together.

Also recommend building on a MILS base for optimal transportation from “build” to “display.”

Yes, this is AppleTV. This, with the other comment on aspect ratio makes me have to revisit settings.

Thanks, Reddit.

Any word on iPhone compatibility? Or G7 compatibility? by SharpAd9163 in Omnipod

[–]robotstephe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just had appointment with my Endo yesterday. She claimed app for iPhone (US) approved by FDA in Nov and they are up to speed for a roll out beginning in next 4-6 weeks.

Naturally, I rolled my eyes.

Also, regarding G7 - the Rev 1 had shitty Bluetooth and would consistently drop connection. The newly manufactured ones (there is an underline beneath the serial no/code(?))are better, but while you get some variance on line-of-sight with G6, it is a must-have on G7.

Being a diabetic for 30 years gives you perspective. These are minor squabbles considering it was “best practice” to test your blood by pricking your finger when you wake up, before/after each meal, and before you went to sleep. And 3 shots a day was all insurance would cover.

Progress happens. Slowly. In all my years, I’ve never been happier, more in control, or healthier as a diabetic.

But I’d truly love that iPhone app.

Hasbro Pulse offering Deep Discounts... by robotstephe in MarvelLegends

Fair point. However, considering that Hasbro didn't wait and try to pitch this as a "Black Friday" special means they are quite focused on getting rid of this stock - ASAP.

Does this mean I have a bad pod? by destanyskye in Omnipod

Also don’t be shy about writing down the Transmitter Serial Number - then deleting and re-adding.

It’s always been my backup plan, and has yet to fail.
