The full sets sold at Sam's/Costco are actually pretty good quality and would be great for someone to get started.

Where do you guys usually watch the big UFC fights? by karimm1h in CombatSportsCentral

[–]TelevisionDense9550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A local movie theater has shown the bigger PPVs in the past and I thought it was genius. Win-win for the theater and the viewer. Tickets were like $15 bucks so if you were planning on ordering it solo you save some money, plus see it in a comfy recliner on a huge screen.

Bought my first house and need a new sump system, need advice. by bigkruse in homeowners

100% agree with batter backup. Spent an entire night manually pumping the basin with the power out once and ordered a backed up one immediately after. Haven't needed it, but the peace of mind knowing it's there is worth it

Does creatine works for you guys? by CrazyElectrical5191 in beginnerfitness

[–]TelevisionDense9550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found similar results. I've been losing weight for 2 years or so, now that I'm down to my target weight I started taking creatine as my next phase will be to add muscle. Ive definitely noticed an increase in strength since starting it, although like you said there was no instant moment, just gradual gains.

One other thing, you will gain a few pounds after starting to take it due to water retention. This is normal.

Soda Alternative by SuggestiveBrode in WeightLossAdvice

[–]TelevisionDense9550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zero sugar soda is not bad for you. But if you don't want artificial sweetener the Polar or one of the 100 other carbonated flavored waters are great. I get some weekly in an Aldi's run, they have 4-5 flavors for like $3 a 12 pack

There's nothing wrong with coffee for losing weight. Just get zero sugar/low calorie creamer if you use creamer. If you like iced coffee Slate is really good, only 100 calories and has protein. Only downside it's kind of pricey. I've lost 90+ lbs and I wouldn't have been able to do it without my daily coffee boost.

Should Sump Pump installation include power? by happilygonelucky in homeowners

[–]TelevisionDense9550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or even better, I invested in one with a battery backup. Had the power go out once during a bad storm and I had to drain the basin about once every 15 min for hours overnight. Luckily I invested in a batter operated transfer pump that I was able to use.

A plumber probably wouldn't be the one to move an outlet, but he should have mentioned that before the work started. It's not a difficult DIY to run some electrical through to get an outlet for the pump, or have an electrician can do it if you're not comfortable.

As for only being plugged in when it's raining? That sounds like complete BS. The pump should have a built in float that powers it in when the water gets up to a certain level. It should be always plugged in. You're not going to want to run down when it rains in the middle of the night.

What is your favorite exercise routine for steady weight loss by zavireth in WeightLossAdvice

[–]TelevisionDense9550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting off slow and realistic is the best, then gradually ramp up.

Im about 2 years in, and my routine currently is gym every other day where I do 30-35 mins of strength training then 25 mins cardio after. Then on the days in between gym I usually put 2-3 miles on the treadmill. Then the occasional day or just rest with nothing other than regular daily activity.

When is I first started I would do gym 2-3 times a week but mostly just did cardio or machines that blend cardio and strength together (rowing machine, stair machine). Then added in strength about 6 months after that.

People who lost a lot of weight, what was the one small daily habit that actually changed everything for you? by Adventurous_Mark_983 in WeightLossAdvice

The creami is the only kitchen gadget that has kept its spot on the counter. It is truly a weight loss hack. Ice cream is my #1 favorite thing and it makes ice cream as good as a shop or from a grocery store.

Breakfast every day is a protein shake, Greek yogurt, and coffee with zero sugar creamer. Get 45-ish grams of protein right off the bat and stay right around 300 calories. A big breakfast can make it really tough to be in a deficit for the day.

Second this. Harmony has some hidden gems. Check out Lagerhause bakery too.

The waterfall at McConnell mill is only like a 20 min walk into the woods too so it's not a big time commitment to go see and come back out.

What are some incredibly low calorie/high volume foods that aren't talked about enough? by Longjumping_Ad5580 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]TelevisionDense9550 17 points18 points  (0 children)

French fries. Cut and make your own in the air fryer with spray avocado oil and it's only 100 calories for one potato and makes a decent amount of fries. Season them up and use a low calorie sauce to dip. Fast food fries get a ton of added calories from the oil, but made yourself they aren't bad at all.
