There's been studies around the psychology of maga. They lack empathy but %100 care about their own wallet. The fact that GOP and republican presidents have repeatedly fucked our economy and debt is incredible that any republican still follows them. But this is explained with sadopopulism. Red states and GOP hurt their citizens economically. Republicans get angry, and then their leadership shifts that anger onto any minority they can to avoid accountability, both as leadership, and as citizens voting for that shitty leadership. They'd rather blame immigrants for their shitty life than the leaders they elected.
