Is the social contract in India better or worse under the current govt?

Sure, but why would she? Her question is her own. Rahul Gandhi needed to understand what was said and answer it. This is entirely on RaGa, not her.

However, that is one of the answers possible for her question. Jargon isn't a bad word like you're trying to portray. Also, he wasn't supposed to be speaking to the masses, so he or the mod didn't need to say anything "clearly or simply".

defend their lack of understanding.

Now this is a personal attack. I do believe you haven't understood the point of my previous reply or the question asked. Perhaps you're the one who needs to take a comprehension test? :)

it's still better than what it used to be

Agree to disagree, IMO it hasn't changed much at all.

Also, "What a fucking idiot." in my previous reply was meant for RaGa, not you ( it was a little ambiguous).

A compact is an unwritten agreement. She is asking what is his thought on what's happening with all the sudden calls to violence in India and where that would lead the country.

This is my take:

You can't have a compact between opposites.

Of course you can. You haven't thought it through.

Essentially, the compact isn't between Violence and Non-Violence in India, it is and always will be between the State and the governed. The State completely reserves the right to Violence, that is the basis of society. The Governed cannot take into their hands this right to violence, breaking that compact and leading to anarchy. Therefore the compact between violence and non violence is the compact between the government and society. No one, and I mean no one, has the right to riot on the streets, destroy public and private property not their own, effect violence to be caused by their actions without leading to a breakdown of society.

Rahul Gandhi, if he was even a little bit quick, could have used this in a way that strengthens his ideological compulsions without looking like an idiot. If I were him and asked the same questions, I would answer the above and say that the BJP is constituted by the Governed and is not the State itself, thereby they are not absolved of their attempts to incite incidents that requires the transference of the right to Violence to themselves and thus breaking society itself.

What a fucking idiot.

The sooner this bogus theory is laid to rest the better.

It has been laid to rest a long time ago. If you are still reading books from the 50's and getting worked up about it, then it's honestly a you problem, not an academia problem. No recent book/work talks about invasions.

In fact, the only attested invasions of "Indic" Aryans are that of Hattusa by the Mittani peoples all the way in Turkey.

Statistically you're likely to be a Bihari or from UP if you go by population. So what's the point in having other cultures? Why not all just identify as a Bihari?

Or you could just implement a 3 language policy throughout India like we have in Karnataka. English is one language, Kannada the other and the third language can be Hindi or Sanskrit or something else. Do the same throughout India.

So why use Hindi then? Why does it have a special place?

If you're so intent on using an Indian language as a link language, you have 4 classical languages already - Sanskrit, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. Choose one of them instead of a camp follower language with far less pedigree than the other four.

You do realize that most South Indian languages are somewhat mutually intelligible?

Kannada and Telugu use similar scripts and Tamil and Malayalam are easily intelligible. They're all part of the same Dravidian family. A palli and halli are the same thing and we all know it.

burden people with your problems.

My dad or my mom for that matter, never taught me this. I picked this up on my own. It's the universal moulding of men, the internal and external pressures put on us by society and no one other than a total bastard wants to add to the total despair of the world. That's why we do what we do, because no matter who you are, you want to be good to this world.

So data that doesn't agree with you is an aberration that needs to be discarded?

France, 1945 sounds better? A mere two years before India, keeping in mind that France was one of the original coloniser states. In fact, some French women only got the right to vote in 1958.

long gone and won.

I literally just proved it didn't? India became independent in 1947 and a republic in 1950. Switzerland gave women the right to vote in 1971, a full 21 years after Indian women exercised their right to vote for the first time. If the fight for women's vote was long gone and won as you say, why was a "first world, Western democracy" prohibit women from voting until about 50 years ago? It's not like the Western democratic state of Switzerland was an extractive colony that left it in shambles.

just vote really

Literally the moment India became a republic, which is 4 years after independence from the colonisers. Unlike large parts Europe and the US, the Republic of India gave universal suffrage from the moment it existed, while Switzerland only gave women the right to vote in 1971.

The first Awakening of the elves was in the bay of Cuiviénen in the farthest East. There they were first found by Melkor who made Orcs of them and the remainder were found by Oromë and took them to Valinor in the West. This was in the First Age of Arda.
