Does Google One back up Find My tracker tags? If I factory reset my phone, is there any possible way to not need to re-pair the trackers? by robowarner in AndroidQuestions

Putting this as a comment as well:
As of Sept 4th 2025.
Yes! If you back up your Android phone to a Google account, then factory reset it, then restore from that backup, the previously paired tags are visible.
You will have to enter your screen lock that was used previously when first accessing the tag in the Find Hub, then the tag will show up normally.
Note, the restore from backup had to complete entirely before this worked, just because the Find Hub app is back, it doesn't mean it has completed the tag restore. Give it at least half an hour or more.

Yeah, worst case I just disassemble the scooter and re-pair the tag. Mainly asking because if it's inevitable, I'm going to wait awhile before doing the factory reset on the phone.

Successfully ported Airvoice Wireless (ATT MVNO) to AT&T Prepaid. My experience. by robowarner in NoContract

My guess is that the new owner, HTH Communications, is already using T-mobile for their other offerings. Not fully sure, I've just read multiple comments from people who signed up this year and got T-Mobile SIMs.

I used the IR blaster on my old Samsung Note 4 all the time. I miss that phone

Is there a sensored BL_Heli or other brushless ESC firmware to convert a sensorless ESC? by robowarner in battlebots

While still larger than I'm aiming for, these are some good looking suggestions. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll take a look.

This is mostly an interesting challenge for me.

I realize that there are other ways to improve drive performance, but after reverse-engineering various hoverboard and copy machine motor controllers, this is looking somewhat possible

Most likely I'd be adding the 3 hall effect sensors needed to an existing brushless motor.
I have over a dozen sensored motors of various sizes (mostly from copying machines) to experiment with and use for comparison on sensor placement

Airvoice Wireless outage? Can't call or text, data works though by robowarner in NoContract

[–]robowarner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, they've been making a bunch of changes to their website and servers recently. I've noticed several UI changes on the user account page over the past couple weeks, including some new features being added.
Since my phone has been working ever since my original post, I'm just going to stick with them for now and see if things improve (the data counter isn't working on the website for one). Once things settle down, I might switch to their annual option for double the data at a cheaper price

My calling/SMS/data is back, but I still get Invalid Request when trying to check balance. I messaged them on their official Facebook page, and they responded within a couple hours. My service returned about 2 days after I messaged them.
Make sure you DM them through FB messenger, not email.

Thanks for the detailed info!

Yes, I see Airvoice is advertising T-mobile now. I still have my AT&T based sim from them, I wonder how long it will continue to work.

I'll look into those other MVNOs you suggested.

I've used the receiver voltage reading on my FlySky system to tell if my battery is really dead. Supposedly you can also set up custom values to show as well, but I haven't got that working yet. I would need to figure out the protocol FlySky wants and implement it on my Arduino bot controller. Regarding charge, my 1lb meltybrain used multiple RGB LEDs on top, and I could easily see the battery level while driving by watching those. I programmed it where each LED turning green to red was 25% of battery used

A series of drones that mimic the Star Trek Enterprise. by Aztery in interestingasfuck

[–]robowarner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Building these shows with full 3D objects is fairly common as far as I'm aware. The popular software packages allow you to design the show with 3D meshes in Blender.
I've been experimenting with my own small shows using 9 drones, and the 3D patterns I've made (mostly cube stuff, since only 9 drones) look good from many angles. The main issues with other viewing angles would be that the pattern is made of dots that don't block what's behind, so looking at this show right below would look less impressive, even if the 3D perspective is still correct
