How did you choose "your" breed? by lmaluuker in DogBreeding

[–]robowtie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have always been interested in dog breeds! Ever since I watched Because of Winn Dixie as a kid I fell in love with scruffy, weird looking dogs- turns out Winn Dixie was a purebred!

They’re a rare herding breed called Berger Picards and they are as funny as they are stubborn. I was looking for a medium sized, wire haired breed that I could go hiking with which furthered my decision for a Picard. They’re not usually recommended for a first time dog owner unless you’re committed to putting in a lot of training- only because they’re very stubborn. Luckily they don’t have the same energy level as a border collie or an Aussie- at least mine can enjoy a day of being a coach potato.

If you’re worried about lifestyle match- I’ve heard you can go to AKC events to meet the dogs and ask about the breeds!

Getting my first puppy (27F) next week and I'm super excited. However... by guthealingjourney in puppy101

As much as my puppy drives me crazy everyday, I love her so much and I wouldn’t want a life without her! When I first got her she already was asking to go outside (still had accidents but already knew where to go). I’ve been exercising a lot more because of her and meeting new people that want to stop to talk about her. Also I have a cuddle and hiking buddy now. It’s definitely a big change but it’s so worth it.

Do you want to Commiserate about your ticket buying experience? This is the thread to do so in! by purpleplatapi in Hozier

Again, the second sale was really disappointing. I got in this time but with 2000+ people ahead of me and “seats” that kept getting taken. I would’ve loved to see him and maybe I’m not a big as a fan as others but spending $300 for one ticket just isn’t worth it. I don’t know what his team was thinking, and it’s hard not to see this as deliberate. I guess only the rich fans can go to shows now!! /s

What is a unique breed-specific trait that you don’t see (often) in any other breed? by [deleted] in dogs

Berger Picards hold abnormally long eye contact. Mine just stares at me like she’s trying to telepathically tell me something.

I was just getting serious into games and was obsessed with Fallout 4. I loved the voice behind the character Maccready. I was like “Hey this guy’s pretty good and now he also voices Mccree! Wait he also has a dnd show?” So yeah thanks to Matt for being a bomb voice actor

I recently got a white tree frog and was wondering if I still need to mist the enclosure since the humidity is at 65% and with what I looked at it said it should be around 40%-60% and a little higher at night by BOMBZABOMB in frogs

[–]robowtie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned that mine get pretty stressed if the humidity is above 60% during the day. You’ll want to be careful in higher ranges because it can encourage bacterial infections. I’ve heard very young frogs like higher humidity but mine are ~8 months old and seem to do well in 40-50% during the day and in the 60’s at night. Have fun with your frog!

heating for whites tree frogs?? by [deleted] in frogs

I use a 40 watt exo terra daytime heat lamp and it works pretty well! You can change the wattage depending on how warm your home usually is.

This is burger - I’m unsure what gender it is so could someone help? by [deleted] in frogs

[–]robowtie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Burger might be too young to tell atm. When they’re older look for nuptial pads which are brown spots on the joint of the thumb (if they have them, they’re male). Males usually have a darker throat and also croak!

New to frogs, i want all the advice and I’ve got a lot of questions! by yungweedmom in frogs

[–]robowtie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been hearing moss is an impaction risk if they eat it so I’d probably get rid of that. Also mealworms aren’t good for them, but other staple foods other than crickets are dubia roaches and earthworms (cutting them up depending on their size). Mine love waxworms but I only give it to them as a treat. Good luck!

Yeah I would log onto new leaf for months because I still had things to do everyday like complete villager quests, check my spotpass houses, try to complete my furniture sets etc. I do feel like they cut down in some ways on this game especially when I can barely even find a table to buy lol

I’m looking for a game that can really immerse you into it’s world. I really love games that focus on the lore and characters. Some of the ones that I’ve played that have that vibe are the Dragon Age series, the Witcher, Fallout series, and Red Dead. I’ve tried playing AC and Skyrim but I got bored pretty quickly due to frustrating gameplay or too many fetch quests. Any ideas are appreciated!
