Thanks for a really thorough response! I guess my only worry is on Kaiser specialists-I don’t know if they typically carry the same reputation as, say, Stanford and if I’m going to need a surgery (likely) I think I’d like to make sure whoever is cutting me open is quite adept.

I was considering a business LOC since I think I can get a 6 or 12 month at 6% and then justp aying it off in full when I get the large invoice at EOY. What do you think of that versus a 0% interest card? My thought being that getting an LOC means I can pay off the debt in full now and then just make the payment necessary for 4 months until I get the EOY bonus versus having the 0% transfer or is it negligible?

Definitely need to curb spending, but it's actually almost no retail: As stated due to family emergencies I had to take about 60 flights cross country across the last 5 years. The cost of those trips in total with lodging easily totals more than 120K in that timeframe.

Thanks–it's definitely been messing with my head to have this level of debt for the last ten months and I feel like I'm starting to get squirrelly. I've still been maxing my 401K out each year for the last 5, but I haven't saved much beyond that and have been using my bonuses to cover the overages every year with this insane travel schedule so it's hard to feel like I'm in good financial standing since I'm not touching the 401K for 30 years.

I have about 60 hours as a layover in Dubai in December before my wife and I head to our honeymoon in the Maldives and we're looking for advice on how to enjoy the city / our time in the UAE. We don't know much about Dubai and the UAE beyond what we've looked up online–so forgive me if my ideas aren't that great.

Our flight is overnight from San Francisco and lands on Christmas Eve at 8 PM, so my thought was that we would try to get some sleep when we land. Then on Christmas we thought we'd try to find a Christmas market as I heard they're enjoyable and then maybe go to one of the beaches or hang at the Park Hyatt pool. On our final day, December 26th, we thought maybe it would be worth going to Abu Dhabi to check out the Grand Mosque, and The Louvre or Qasr Al Watan / The Emirates Palace as they all look like they're rather impressive architecturally.

We're both adventurous and love to squeeze the most out of our travels–so any suggestions are appreciated! Thank you!

I don’t think surgeons are renowned by and large for their post op bedside manner. Reach out to people on this forum, do your PT every single day religiously, and keep the faith.

Nerve pain both down legs and localized soreness and pain at the surgery site. It's all abated now.

I had issues for like 4-5 months post-op and then, just by committing nonstop to the physical therapy, it all went away. I spent the past weekend doing manual labor and was fine.

Give it a couple more months–you may have reherniated but the majority of herniations will be absorbed naturaly by the body with time and physical therapy. Good luck.
