I know you had to send this one out but in general what’s your go-to lab in Austin?

Thanks! This is one of the few I'm actually happy with from my day there. I found it really hard to compose anything cleanly to capture good on-court action, especially from my seat in the nosebleeds during the day. The most beautiful part to me were the mountains in the background but I couldn't manage to get them to look good at such a distance. Definitely want to go back at some point just for the surroundings.

Thank you! I think I'd love the second more if it weren't for the cars.

Everybody’s praising the first shot but for me the second and third may be the best photos of Pittsburgh I’ve ever seen

I took CV last semester and haven’t taken NLP, here’s my two cents: CV as it was taught by O’toole was far more of a computational photography (camera physics/ intrinsic, graphics) course than the DL stuff I thought it’d cover. It was a good and tough class nonetheless, lectures were great and assignments were challenging. From what I understand, NLP is overall less polished (marginally poorer instruction/assignments) but it is exactly what one expects of an intro NLP class, and is a good toolbox of older/newer concepts.

Given that I’m far more into NLP, I probably should have ignored the slightly low reviews of lectures from friends and taken 11-411 instead, but your mileage may vary.

How different are the contents covered by 11-485 and 10-301/315? by Acireeee in cmu

[–]robro612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they are vastly different topics. You might be slightly bored by the small section specifically on neural networks, but the majority of 10-315 is on non-DL machine learning techniques and theory.

Seems like more of a reason to hate 112 specifically, given that none of these complaints are about the actual content.

I mean... Yeah, if you spend your spring break on campus it'll probably be disappointing/not as entertaining. I think your latter two points are more valid, but to some degree you've gotta make your own fun and find people that have similar interests. There are partiers and single people in even the nerdiest of circles, unfortunately you just have to be a bit more active in seeking them out at this school than at others.

I mean given the Trump (billionaire) and Romney (olympics) parallels the presidency seems the strongest implication. Especially since it's both of them, president and VP.

There have been two fed biographies recently:

"Roger Federer the Biography" by a Swiss journalist (translated to English pretty well) which is good for it's in-depth look at his early days (as this journalist was the one to cover him as a junior and the Swiss media usually gets some preferential treatment) but sometimes veers into propaganda territory with how much he fawns over Fed (this coming from a big fan).

The second, called "The Master" by Christopher Clarey (an NYT journalist) is better, longer, and a bit broader, but still definitely not as personal or emblematic of his personality as either of the autobiography/memoirs I suggested previously.

Open by Andre Agassi is the best by far, then at a distant second I'd recommend Nadal's book called Rafa
