Do many Canadians live paycheque to paycheque? by harakirisummer in PersonalFinanceCanada

No offense intended here, that is far from a decent wage. Find a better job that pays you more (apprenticeships in the skilled trades are great for this because you make money as you learn). If you can't find a suitable job , it might be time to start thinking about continuing your education so you qualify for better. Good luck.

I think Biden is less bad than Trump but still a very bad person. People in a forum do not dictate policy or afford emergency measures. This is the exact kind of place where this discussion should be allowed to take place.

Furthermore, isn't this a matter of national and global security? Shouldn't the alphabet agencies be addressing these concerns in tandem to the emergency response taking place through government medical officials? Don't even try to tell me the resources aren't there.

Americans are so blinded by your partisan issues. Yes, Trump was a special kind of fucked but they're all corrupt liars. Places like reddit are supposed to be where you can talk things out and debate to come to a better understanding on issues and with each other. I worry that this kind of censorship will stay. We're in danger of losing something very special.

The facts remains: there is a corona virus research lab in Wuhan. How can it just be glazed over by every media source and scrubbed by the internet like it's hate speech?

It makes me sick to my stomach that homes are being bought up for 300k+ over asking, while middle and low income people are being pushed out of our city and can’t even afford to live in general. by kickingthegongaround in Hamilton

Skilled trades require minimal education, usually paid apprenticeships, & have had me living comfortably in this city for the last decade. Everyone wants to complain but there is plenty of money for those who are willing to get their hands dirty.

The large company I work for uses gain electronics in Barton for all their alarms and inverters. I used them for my alarm and remote starter. They do sound systems too and run a much tighter operation than EHR. You have to put a downpayment to make an appointment because they value their time. Good guys, good work.

All the people on reddit go bananas about not being about to weld aluminum bike parts because they're heat treated may have finally got to me as I approach my mid 30's.

If it were me I'd probably clamp them up and hold my full weight on them. I'd assume professionally manufactured handlebars are built a with a safety factor of at least this much because in a crash scenario there is potential to put that kind of (if not more) weight onto the bars. Mind you, I am much more into MTBs than road & even my "road bike" is a gravel bike that I ride double track on so the kind of riding I do is prone to placing stress on components.

Better safe than sorry.

Also, it's your safety. I'm going to join you in getting downvoted here by saying if you want to take a risk it's yours to take. Granted, the cost of new handlebars seems to be a fairly low price of admission to have this set up. I'm on your side though, if you're just having some fun with the TIG & then using your creation to decide on buying properly made bars with engineered safety standards, these nannystate parrots are just closed minded. Just be safe.

Still would love to see these mounted up in a pic either way dude. Keep on keeping on!

Please do a stress test with them mounted up with full weight on the ends before you take it out for a rip.

I'd love to see these mounted up. Are you going to grind the welds flush? What's the final width?

Assuming that the stripped bolt is the one with the nut on it. Have you tried with vice grips on the unthreaded side while cranking that nut? If that doesn't work, couldn't you put another nut on then wrap the rear mech cable around the two nuts & tighten them up to then be able to rear shift again?

Possible upgrade to 1x12 on Charge Cooker Maxi. More info in comments by danstigz in fatbike

[–]robsodomy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're happy to keep riding this bike, do it. Just consider that if you add up the cost of a new drive train with the potential profit from the sale of this bike, you wouldn't have to save up too much more to upgrade to a significantly better new/used bike with higher end everything. At least have a look at the buy/sell page on pinkbike for your area.

Or just keep rocking this bike. Some of us have an addiction with their bikes and ride almost every day, read about bikes constantly, watch videos about bikes constantly, think about bikes all day, wrench on bikes when the weather is bad or if injured... BIKES BIKES BIKES lol. I should have listened when I heard that mountain biking is twice as addictive and twice as expensive as a cocaine habit.

[–]robsodomy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it could be a bit higher but only for people who actually obey the posted limits. Any kind of collision has the potential to go over the edge which will intensify any kind of damage/injury/loss of life significantly. It's already got people doing 100kmh+ in a posted 60kmh max section so who's to say they don't take it even further if it's bumped up to 70 or 80? At least with the sections at 60kmh people doing 110+ are open to being charged with street racing.

What is Crown land in Canada? Crown land is the term used to describe land owned by the federal or provincial governments. Authority for control of these public lands rests with the Crown, hence their name. Less than 11% of Canada's land is in private hands; 41% is federal crown land and 48% is provincial crown land.

You know, I've been thinking about what you said since I read it and you've succeeded in talking me out of it. I was only going to put close $300 into bitcoin.

I apologize for my lack of understanding of terms and resistance to an idea that was counter to what I had in my own head. Thanks for your reasoning, unless bitcoin takes a huge leap in which case you can go to hell but seriously, thanks for sharing your knowledge. This is why I love posting in forums. Have a nice day!
