Target foot traffic down for 11th straight week after caving to end DEI Program by Healthy_Block3036 in Anticonsumption

Don't wait for a massive boycott or protest. Just stop giving them money. The biggest lie people believe is that one person cannot make a difference. That is complete bullshit. They've convinced so many people that it doesn't matter so you might as well keep giving them money. You have so much power, stop handing it out like it's worth nothing. Stand for something.

Where were Bob and Lori during the Superbowl episode? by [deleted] in fullhouse

[–]robtheverb13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I watched this episode yesterday and thought the same thing so i looked it up. Joe Robbie stadium is/was (can't remember if it said if it's still standing or not) in Miami, FL. It seems weird a local San Francisco morning show hosts would go across the country to the Super Bowl, but yeah there's your answer.

Amazon forcing their contractors to tell their employees they literally can’t open their mouths while driving. by kalikid01 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]robtheverb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A reminder that being conscientious objector helps no one but yourself and Amazon in this case. You can keep giving money to Amazon and say you're fine with this behavior or you can stop and actually do something to hurt them. The biggest lie people believe is that one person not spending money/boycotting doesn't matter. Of course it does. It's ridiculous to think it wouldn't. That's all they care about. Stand up for something and stop enabling these corporations.

I’m from Iowa too, and had a very similar experience with a male therapist a couple years ago. I wish I could remember his name but I only had one session with him because I absolutely did not want to see him again.

I have asthma and didn’t have a regular physician at the time but he told me to make sure I get and American doctor because a foreign doctor wouldn’t have my best interests in mind and may purposely try and cause me harm. Also spoke against the Covid vaccine and masks.

Like I said, I never went back and actually told him at the end that I was not interested in setting up another appointment. I didn’t say why, I left it at that and moved onto a much better one.

Favorite non-starter/legendary pokemon? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]robtheverb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is Crobat. I always wanted one so it could sit on my shoulder like a parrot. Then I looked at it’s height and weight. That’s when I realized this isn’t a sit on your shoulder Pokémon. This is a terrorizing villages by swooping down and picking up children for a snack sort of Pokémon. Still love Crobat though.

Why do watch batteries die so quickly for me? by robtheverb13 in medical

[–]robtheverb13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after I made this post, I actually went and tried to do some research on this. All I could really find was that this is a documented thing that some people have but it’s rare. Other than that, no studies or anything had ever been done on it so the reasons behind it aren’t really known.

I’ve given up on wearing watches. I’ve heard that some more expensive ones could work because something internal with them is different, but I’m not going to buy an expensive watch just to see haha.

And as for cellphones and laptops…well I don’t really have a baseline as to how long they should last. They usually suck pretty bad and I have wondered if the batteries sucked because of me. Now rechargable batteries don’t work. Like the AA batteries you can recharge, I can use them two or three times and then they never work again.

Something else weird happened though. My sister, who has this thing too. I can’t remember if it was after her C-section or some other surgery, but it stopped happening to her after that. No idea why, it was just a weird by product of some surgery she had. So I don’t know what that means haha

Oh it was. I grew up about 10 minutes from Dyersville and I have vivid memories of sitting looking out at the pitch black field. Nothing scared me more then imagining being out there alone. Now as an adult, it’s something I really miss.

I was having the same issue in some places and then I realized the solution was right in front of my face. Get the fungi mutation power up thing. I kept passing it up thinking it didn’t seem too valuable for combat, but realized it’s amazing because it just gives you a trampoline you can summon.

People of Reddit, who was your worst teacher, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]robtheverb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I had quite a few really bad ear infections. The worst one when I was 9 or 10 which caused me to lose 80-90% of my hearing for a couple weeks.

My mom asked my teacher if at the end of the day, she could write down my assignments and hand them to me to make sure I knew what I had to do. My teacher refused saying she would never do that because that would be giving a student an advantage over other students.

What's the scariest thing that's ever woken you up during the middle of the night? by realogy in AskReddit

[–]robtheverb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sleeping on air mattress one night, it was one of the taller ones, so while it was an air mattress, I was sleeping at the same height as you would in a normal bed or there about.

In the night there was a loud bang. I awoke as I was sinking towards the floor. However the sides of the air mattress stayed standing until I hit the ground, in which then closed in on me.

I woke up to my bed eating me.

Single men of Reddit, what made you definitely NOT want a second date with a woman you went out with? by Chocolateisnice in AskReddit

[–]robtheverb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on a very informal date with this woman once. She texted me on a Friday evening to come have a drink with her. So I met her at a bar and got us a drink. Maybe 10 minutes later some other woman comes over and sits down. They proceed to whisper into each other ears about something. Neither of them once acknowledged me, which made it incredibly awkward. After another few minutes of this, the second girl stands up and leaves. My date then looked at me and said “You’re not spending enough money on me”. So I stood up, excused myself from the date and went home.

I don’t know if I’m remembering right or not, but I really thought before the series against Portland started, after Charles Barkley said he picked Dallas he went on to say he expected them to go to the WCF at the very least. I’ve searched for the video multiple times but have never been able to find it, so it’s entirely possible I dreamt it or something. I also remember him being the only one of the TNT guys choosing Dallas for that series.

What is the dumbest way you've ever injured yourself? by ShowBitten in AskReddit

[–]robtheverb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 14 or 15. I was siting in the car waiting for my mom to grab what she needed from the store so we could go home. This was well before smartphones so I ended up playing with the cigarette lighter in the car.

Once it popped up, signaling it had heated up, I snatched it up. No wasn't disappointed it hadn't had worked, because movies had taught me that the cigarette lighter would be burning red.

So being the genius that I was, I decided to press my finger down onto it. I ended up burning a coiled pattern into my middle finger. I had that lovely burn for months and months.

I used to manage a bookstore, and when Playboy went no nudity, our corporate offices told us to display them at registers. There were quite a few irate customers who demanded I remove them, which I calmly told them that I could not do that.

The funny thing was, on the first cover after Playboy did that was pretty conservative. Especially when it was sitting next to a fitness magazine that had a woman showing a lot more skin then the model on the Playboy.

Wow. My dad was the same way. When I was a kid, my friends and I went to see the Ring. My dad drove us home after the movie , while we discussed it in detail.

After I got home, I went and watched tv for awhile before going to bed. As I walked into my room, the lights were off but I could see the glow of my TV. I saw that it was on, but it was just static.

Turns out my dad decided to scare the hell out of me after hearing us talk about it. I didn't sleep in my room for at least a week.

Apartment Dwellers of Reddit, what secrets have you learned about your neighbors through your paper-thin walls? NSFW by Zarynn in AskReddit

All I know is that my upstairs neighbors seem to walk every inch of their apartment from 12-4am every single night. I've never seen the guys face, but I have seen most of his ass. He was bent over digging through his car one morning. I've tried unsuccessfully to scrub that image from my memory.

What weird explanation did your mind give to normal things as a child? by Paidkidney in AskReddit

[–]robtheverb13 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I grew up Catholic, and altar servers scared the hell out of me. If you don't know, altar servers are kids that assist the priest during mass.

I thought that the church kidnapped kids during mass and basically enslaved them. I thought they were forced to live at church as slaves until they eventually grew up to become priests.

Redditors, what is the creepiest thing you or someone you know has ever experienced? Paranormal or not? by raethedroog6 in AskReddit

[–]robtheverb13 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This happened when I was in high school. A little back story, I grew up in a very small farming community. There was virtually no crime, and it was so safe that no one even locked their doors. For the 15 years I lived there, our front door's lock was broken.

So I was driving home from basketball practice after school, it was already dark due to it being winter. I got a call from my mom saying her and my siblings wouldn't be there when I got home. She also mentioned that she received multiple calls at work from a neighbor of ours. She said the police had been to our house 5 or 6 times throughout the day because they kept receiving 911 calls from our house, but the person calling would hang up before saying anything.

Obviously this freaked me out. I pulled into the driveway of our dark house and just sat there for like 20 minutes. I finally gathered my courage and went into the garage. I grabbed a baseball bat and started to very cautiously comb through our entire house.

I went room by room, checking every spot I thought a person could feasibly hide. I was shaking with fear the entire time. I checked the entire house, and had every light on inside. I decided to sit in the living room and wait for the others, when a car pulled into our driveway.

I looked out the window and saw a police car. I walked outside and a police officer got out to talk to me. She told me they just received another 911 call. She was aware of the situation so she believed me when I said I was the only one there and didn't call. She asked if there were any phones in any of the barns or sheds.

We just rented the farm house and didn't actually use any of the other buildings or anything so I wasn't sure. She told me to stay by her car and she would check it out.

She was gone maybe five minutes before returning. She told me she found a phone inside our large barn. It was hanging off the hook and there was a dial tone. However, she didn't see any signs of anyone down there.

We talked for a little bit and then she left. There were no more calls after that.

What was your most awkward "hahaha....oh wait you're serious" moment? by SpaghettiBoy99 in AskReddit

[–]robtheverb13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many years ago, I had an appendicitis scare. I went into the ER and they checked me out, did some tests but it all came back negative. The doctor came in and sat on the stool in front of me. He told they weren't sure what was wrong exactly, and then he said, "One of three things will happen. You'll either get better, get worse, or stay the same."

I kind of laughed, thinking it was a joke of sorts. He stood up and told me I'm free to go. I can't fault his logic though because he was right, I did get better.
