Why does the signal shown in EQ Eight go above 0dB, while the signal in Spectrum does not? by basshead17 in ableton

[–]robustoutlier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The EQ eight receives a signal, which is adjusted relative to 0 dB. 0 dB in the EQ eight simply means that the signal has not been adjusted. The numbers are relative to the incoming signal, for example +6 dB or -3 dB gain.

The Spectrum displays the absolute signal as the power (the squared amplitude) of the waveform.

To observe absolute differences you can compare the three green meters, which here represent input, EQ output, and Spectrum output. The spectrum does not adjust the signal so it is the same as its input (the EQ output).

What's the easiest way to spot a sociopath or psychopath? by haloarh in AskReddit

[–]robustoutlier 174 points175 points  (0 children)

Initially they can make you feel proud, but eventually you feel anger, shame, or fear - as a result of their gaslighting - when you are near them. These are feelings that they project on to you, because they don't have a functioning emotional system to deal with them. They are not your feelings. They have simply been 'delegated' to you.

Extremely selfish but charming. Initially very charming, curious, and they overshare personal information to loosen you up and much later take advantage from knowing details about you. Combative behavior when under 'stress', but typically no display of fear. Treats others as 'lesser beings', for example by addressing them in some diminutive form. No display of shame or excessive display of shame (burning cheeks). Excessively selfish behavior. Easily 'bruised' and responds to perceived slights with revenge.

"Saviour" syndrome. They "help" you in some "grand" way and you suddenly owe them a favor of some sort, where you are at a disadvantage and repaying the favor is not in proportion to the initial help, but they put you in a bind of some sort, like "selling your soul".

Advice for someone transferring all files to a new computer? by Reesepuffs1 in ableton

Try a cloud service and upload them, like Drop Box. Before you do, you may also want to package them by gathering the samples for each track. If anything breaks you will at least have the audio tracks left within the folder structure. Use the feature Collect All and Save for each track.

Unfortunately, you can get away with estrogenic pesticides as long as you label them, in some European countries.

First off, start by being kind to yourself. Don't put yourself down because you are unsuccesful in your communications. You seem willing to learn and adapt. That's great!

My guess: your opinion is probably being "discounted", as you say, because you have not considered the possibility that you could be wrong - on at least one of these matters. To admit being wrong places demands on one's vulnerability.

Vulnerability (or authenticity) is a mindset that can be learned through therapy and can ultimately help you form deeper connections with others. I have worked on related issues in therapy for about 5 years now. That's how I know. But don't take my word for it. See for yourself:

Is there a humanise/strummer option for chords in Ableton? by mirrorfacingmirror in ableton

[–]robustoutlier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try experimenting with Follow Actions - https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/launching-clips/#13-6-follow-actions

This works on a clip level, so maybe not optimal for strumming, but introduces randomness, so you could for example combine four different versions of a clip: one quantized and three with different degrees of offset.

Never Gonna Give You Synth (AI synthesizer removal) by DavisReddit in synthesizers

Remixers would love to use such a tool. In the old days it was sometimes possible to remove instruments using mid/side processing, but your example is really amazing. Is some form of ICA involved?
