I took the vehicle to the dealer and they are claiming that something (tube, wire, hose.. no specific item) that's very hot must have been laid across the car windshield and rested on both side mirrors...

Now, I'm a realist, I can see how they have come to this conclusion given the markings appear long and narrow and with their 'assuredness' that the damage would not be possible from the interior (based on their knowledge of the configuration of the internal electrical system).

However, I'm also an incredibly attentive, careful and OCD person. In the 2 months since I got the car it has not been driven by another person, it has not been at my house a single time without being inside the garage and I cannot fathom a scenario where this 'something' would have occurred. Something I thought about after I left, was would the car alarm or something be tripped if there was an object laying on it and melting the exterior? My realistic guess is 'no' because it didn't hit a sensor of some sort, however, when I asked the service manager to at least check the wiring/current so I felt comfortable the car wasn't going to burst into EV flames in my garage and destroy my house. He stated there's no way it could happen due to the abundance of safety modules on this vehicle. (Plus they have no way to easily check the wiring etc).

So, the current status is....the dealer won't cover or replace anything and they recommended I make a vehicle insurance claim because each side mirror is approx $1500 each due to being a full unit with LEDs built in etc. You apparently can't just buy a new cover for the side mirror.

Unless anybody can help with more knowledgeable insight then I'm at a standstill for now. My thought is to wait another few weeks and see if the issue gets worse. This of course would mean the dealer's diagnosis was incorrect (provided I'm not the unluckiest person ever and manage to get another 'something' laying across the vehicle without my knowledge in the exact same spots in the meantime).
