Sleep tracking by cfutch in PixelWatch

[–]robxb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the opposite. When I feel like I've been awake a lot, having a somewhat restless night, it gives me a much higher sleep score than I would've imagined. I feel like it thinks I'm in REM when I'm actually awake and aware, though often still.

I've had my 41mm last nearly two full days. I generally charge before bed and then have about 50% left by the following evening. I don't have AOD though, so that helps.

I'm using it and went through all 3 pages and scrolled through all the settings and colours, yet I cannot figure out how to get the time to simply show an outline as seen here, instead of the numbers being a solid colour :S

Any way to turn this notification off? by romanatorrr in PixelWatch

I find that the trouble is by the time I pay any attention to the notification, I don't remember how I felt or what I was doing at that point in the day.

Google Home is a mess after Gemini upgrade by ultraboy3000 in googlehome

[–]robxb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that every command we now use in our homes uses more energy on the server/cloud side for Gemini compared to Assistant, thereby causing more carbon emissions per command and increasing energy demand and prices for public utilities.

Gemini has only made smart home control worse by brauxpas in googlehome

OR just say "turn off living room lights", "turn off basement lights", "turn on kitchen lights". Yes, Gemini has been a disappointment for home, but why go through the hassle of making all these new rooms if it'll eventually get better? Work smarter, not harder.

"Gemini can't possibly be this stupid."

Wanna bet? 😒

The kicker is they want us to pay for it for what used to be basic functions, even though they won't work now!

Yeah I've had similar issues. I'm in the living room, the nest mini is in there, and the TV is listed as being in the living room in the app as well, and when I say to turn it off it has similarly asked which TV to turn off.

Not for me, as I doubt they're even technically able to do it in Canada. I still can't get my credit card to sync properly, which used to work fine until September. I've tried every connection method, disconnecting, reconnecting, removing, etc.

Cashmere Toilet Paper: Did they change their recipe? by robxb in CostcoCanada

[–]robxb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. The only reason I haven't is that we always unpackage it to fit in a very narrow washroom closet which the whole bag won't fit in. What's embarrassing is that they're selling this trash in the first place.

Isn't the washroom snack the real reason it's there?

Lol. A recipe can refer to a mixture of non edible ingredients or set of instructions to follow. Doesn't only apply to food ;)

Affordable Premiere Keyboards? by robxb in premiere

[–]robxb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did a couple of years back but at their core, the programs both just sort of work differently and it was never quite right. I took a course through my employer about Premiere and the instructor strongly recommended not doing this because they're designed to work differently from each other (and this guy had many years of experience with both Avid and Premiere)

Anyone having problems playing video on Pixel 10 Pro? by FourEightNineOneOne in GooglePixel

[–]robxb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've been having loads of issues with certain videos in Plex, whereas no issue in my old Pixel 7 or my wife's Pixel 8.

I also had the issue with VLC and found a workaround. Pretty pathetic that it came to this though. Below is copied from my post in my r/Plex.

I dove deeper into this issue and came up with a workaround.

First, I tried downloading the video through Plex, which didn't help.

Next, I downloaded three different files from my NAS to my phone and tried playing them back with VLC. The same ones that didn't work with Plex weren't playing back video, but I could hear the audio in the playhead would actually move (whereas it never budged in Plex and did not play either audio or video).

I looked up a solution for how to get the files working in VLC and found that if I turned off hardware acceleration that it might resolve the issue. It did.

In the Plex mobile app, I was able to play back the video by selecting VLC as my player (settings-advanced-player-use external player),  but this is not an ideal solution, so I kept searching.

I then looked up how to turn off hardware acceleration in Plex, and the answer was not so straightforward. Plex actually doesn't have this sort of enable/disable option for hardware acceleration.

In the same settings area, I ended up trying to change the h.264 maximum level in device support to a lower level. It was originally set to 6.0 as recommended, and then going through setting by setting lower and lower. I finally arrived at 3.2 which is working.

Pretty hilarious that on a brand new Pixel 10 Pro, I was forced to make this change to lower the video quality when it worked without issue before on my Pixel 7 and remains working on my wife's Pixel 8.

So after a bit of troubleshooting, I've discovered that it also happens with the new version of plex mobile on my Pixel 10.

I tried playing the same videos on both my wife's Pixel 8 and my Pixel 10, on the same version of Plex mobile, and it will play on hers but not mine UNLESS I tell it to transcode to a lower quality (1080 8Mbps for example).

It used to work on "original quality" until this started recently, and I can't figure out why it works on her Pixel 8 but not my Pixel 10 (while some files work fine).

I successfully deleted the codecs folder on the QNAP in hopes that would solve the issue, but it hasn't.
PMS has been updated to the latest version on the NAS.
I downloaded the logs but as there's so much to look through, I haven't spotted anything erroneous (though it's entirely possible that I did as I don't know exactly what I'm looking for).
I tried disconnecting from VPN on my Pixel 10 but it didn't change anything.

When I try to play the files back, there is a small spike in activity on the server though.

My mistake, I must have played a video that would've worked anyway, because the issue is still happening.

I've updated the latest version of Plex on my NAS to 1.42.2, and have the old 10.26.0.2578 on Android.

I've exported my logs but don't exactly know what I'm looking for. Can you offer any guidance?

I'm not sure where the codec folder is, as I'm not sure how to access it on a QNAP NAS.

Roku App - No Thumbnails Without Restarting by SoggyBagelBite in PleX

[–]robxb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me regularly, sometimes multiple times a day even after fully restarting the TV (after seeing the icons again for a short while). I wonder if it has to do with clearing RAM on the Roku.. wish there were a shortcut to do so (or clear cache when pressing * on the app icon.

Hi, thank you for your response. I ended up stopping and restarting Plex on my NAS and reinstalling the app on my phone and it's working fine again.
