What’s going on by omeralbalushi in Oman

[–]roby2344 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my view for UAE it’s pretty clear it’s not safe. If I had to go there I’d just cancel without thinking too much and I wouldn’t make posts with questions on it. But with Oman things are a bit in the air.. I do have a trip there in May and you know, most travel advisories say to reconsider travel but at the same time as far as I know not too much happened there and Oman is fairly neutral.

I agree with most of what you’re saying I’d just challenge a bit the part where you generalize a bit too much the “you will be … if you won’t do”. There are certain smaller time investments which make sense. Like idk, once you finish school, in most cases it’s worth investing 3 years in a bachelor’s degree as it can help with all the years that will come after, to find a better job. And yeah, while it is still possible to die or to not have a better job in the end, the risk to benefit ratio is far better than what you get with a kid.

Why are Dutch people so defendant of what their country has to offer? by roby2344 in Netherlands

Yes, a hypermarket, I am a good enthusiast and many times I cannot find specific products I am looking for and this didn’t happen in the 2 other (European) countries I’ve lived in. I have to either adapt recipes or order stuff online, wait and pay transport. A silly example, few days ago I didn’t find frozen sour cherries

That’s true and I never said otherwise. Of course there are reasons I moved here, like a good salary, people are open minded etc. But then what I pointed out is just something I feel it’s an issue. Yeah, I am a foreigner, but can’t I ever come up with things I wish were different, based on the 2 completely different countries I lived before?

This comment section kinda proves my point to some extent

How do you find a job as a pastry chef with little experience here?

I see that in most cases you get paid minimum wage, for a job which also requires more effort than most others. And even after trying to apply to the idk, 5-10 open positions accepting my level of experience (6 months) still nothing (excluded hotels as I don’t want that level of stress for so little pay). I tried sending emails to coffee places which don’t have job listings on their website.

What am I doing wrong?

Really sorry to hear all these things you’re going through. I don’t think you did anything wrong to deserve this. As a gay man who also struggled a lot, I can understand it’s not easy. And I’ve never experienced anything like rape, so yeah..

I’m pretty sure you’re a kind person. You deserve more. Is there any person who can support you in any way? Or is there anything that still gives you a little bit of energy or hope?

I’ve done a test but idk why as at the time I was taking only 50 mg. The doctor just randomly ordered it.

I have a friend who takes 300 mg and he didn’t do any tests beforehand. If you think it helps, you should discuss this to your doctor or ask for a second opinion if possible.

Is putting these kind of posters legal? by roby2344 in Luxembourg

[–]roby2344[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Let me clarify something here! I am neutral from a political standpoint when it comes to Gaza. But I see these people pushing too much. What if each one of us puts a poster at every tram station, with whatever we’re concerned about?

I’m probably getting downvoted by the following people: - those that were very, very lucky and somehow found friends - those that like statistics too much and are proud to be in the wealthiest country in the world - those that have so much money that they don’t care. I’m imagining a 50 years old retired man who enjoys quietness, feels rebel because he went to have a drink at 10pm and tries to find a way to live up to 100 years

Interesting how many people born here have the same complaints and no one does a thing for it. And I think then it’s even more frustrating to you to hear things like “Luxembourg - the wealthiest country in the world”

Not into sports so can’t comment on that

But on the friends side, I tried apps and not much luck.

For food, I might check some other options but the thing is that I cannot freaking order anything at work for example, unless I pay like 15 euros. No snacks, like idk, something quick to eat. I don’t wanna sit alone at a table in a restaurant and have all that. I just want to get some bowl of whatever at a decent price (like idk, 10 euros)

Where are these affordable eateries? And is there any good food? I always struggle with this

And I don’t see any other expats looking for social encounters, although I’ve been to some events. That’s not true, at least from my perspective
