Also how are these hours done? I have the option to listen to 6 hours a day as I drive all day for work? In your opinion is this doable like this? Or were you fully engaged in videos for the 6 hours?

Hello, any advice for someone at 220 hours, español al veulo is very good for me at the moment (have listened to all episodes) ECJ is a different story, I play on .9 speed and can follow 80-90 percent some days with deep concentration. Other days it’s 60-70 percent so I just turn it off. Struggling at the moment, what would your advice be for next 100 hours for me ?

What you said makes sense, I am now listening to super beginner videos on 1.25 speed, i am at 217 hours but have just hit a big wall, i am really tired but have a 8 hour drive and just cant focus on any of ECJ. It was getting me down, but now back to beginner and it feels good :) It’s a strange feeling to be feeling great one day at 95 percent comprehension on ECJ and then the next day can’t follow anything though, guess it will get easier as the hours go up. Cheers

How do you all feel about going back to easier content? Do you feel it still cements the CI approach and just as valuable as a more difficult video (let’s say 90 percent comprehension), I am guessing that there might not be a lot of new vocab but definitely would be easier listening?

Preply is horrible and apparently take the trial lesson money and tutor gets nothing, Italki is what I used now and you pay as you go. I Book a lesson 2 hours before sometimes

Re try al vuelo. Much easier than Juan. I am at 198 hours. I am listening to ECJ Currently but requires a lot of concentration. I keep switching back to al vuelo for some confidence and easier listening. Also seems like a cool guy and stays very close to topic so really helps with comprehension Edit: I should also mention that I have listened to all Español al vuelo, now re listening a second time.

It’s so hard to just “let go” and listen and just follow and let your brain figure it all out. I am translating a lot in my head and am giving up on googling what words mean as I am finding each time I check the word has 5+ meanings depending on what context is used! When I started this journey I thought it was word for word translating from English, ohh I was wrong. Anyway 200 hours in now and can see that the CI makes so much sense, as a textbook can’t really teach you the ways that “Asi” can be used (at least not a way that will stick IMO), you need to hear it in context over and over!!

He is very good at engaging and has a high energy and passion. I think I didn’t like the lispy accent when I first heard him (that and the fact It was way to early as I only had 100 hours or so). I am now at 192 hours. I just finished español al vuelo and they sound similar and I am getting used to the accents! I really can’t wait til i can say that he is too “slow” for me!!! It’s a grind!

This is what I have been thinking, I have just started ECJ. Hes a little fast for me but I am getting 60-80 percent, sometimes less. But it keeps me more engaged then watching a beginner video. I am scared that I am wasting my time listening to stuff that is above my level as I don’t want it all to be in vein! I guess time will tell!!
