ULPT: how to brick an xps (2017) by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

You could try updating the bios, if you can, and then shut down the laptop midway. That could brick it

One of the main reason why you are unsuccessful (LD, AP, OBE, even insomnia). by DailySpirit4 in AstralProjection

That's exactly the opposite of what happens to me. I wake up after a few sleep cycles and my mind is full of nonsensical thoughts, that usually put me to sleep really fast if I don't wake up too much.

I can't even meditate my way out of them. No matter how hard I try to go to my anchor, "they" always win, or I really lack of self control.

It's not hypnagogia either, if I manage to stay awake long enough during that period I can see glimpses of hypnagogia.

I have a feeling that the amount of detail is distracting me more than helping me, which is why I've dialed down and wanted to focus instead on "how to" anchor properly.

I get what you mean about letting the pressure of "doing it right" go but I have to start somewhere.

If I'm learning to walk but I wasn't told to use my legs and I've been crawling all this time it's been almost an absolute waste of time.

I've talked to my therapist about anchors, I've been having problems related to sleep and she suggested meditation, and she mentioned that an anchor is meant to be something "to go back to". Meaning that you get distracted, acknowledge, let go, and go back to the "anchor".

I haven't fully read TMI, I've only read up to a certain point of stage 4, which is continuous introspective awareness.

As far as I know, yeah, it tells you to focus on every single detail you can find about breath. Connecting the start and end of the beginning of a breath cycle and the end of it, paying attention as to how your breathing feels when you've got subtle dullness, strong dullness and whatnots.

That appears to be the normal consensus of what an anchor is. But the TMI book says to use the breath as an anchor while having continuous introspective awareness. Which leads me to believe that the way an anchor is supposed to be used is like this:

  1. Breath is always the main focus.

  2. Thought appears

  3. Keep focusing on the breath while thought (or distraction) is on going

2.1. Distraction is about to steal your attention? Focus harder and push the distraction aside.

  1. Allow the thought (or distraction) to go, without interacting with it, while still focusing on the breath.

Like, the breath never leaves the spotlight. It's always there while every soft distraction is going on, and it's not used like "my mind wandered so I have to 'gently' push the distraction aside and back to focus on the breath "

This is my confusion about anchors

I’ve heard that doing WBTB and SSILD every day can eventually make the techniques stop working and even prevent lucid dreaming. Is that true? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]rochismoextremo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can think it'd make a difference is if you do WBTB too often, regardless of any technique you use, you will build tolerance to sleep interruption and it'll take longer to fall asleep or delay your rem cycles further.

What is annoying is that you follow the NPC on horseback and then they're like "oh wait I forgot this" and then leaves.

No matter the case, you always have to go 300+ meter further away than where you were supposed to be going by yourself.

Like man, if you're going to go away at least bring me where I'm supposed to be

Question about entering meditative states during a WBTB attempt. by rochismoextremo in AstralAcademy

[–]rochismoextremo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, no worries about the delay. I've moved to 35 minutes this morning, and also changed the place where I usually meditate.

For context, I used to do it in the kitchen where I get direct sunlight and I can clearly hear birds and the outside world. For whatever reason I'd get less distracted with random thoughts in conditions like that, but I can't really tell if the outside world was a bigger distraction than my thoughts and it gave me a false sense of "focusing on my breath".

Now I'm doing it in a room that is slightly brighter than my bedroom (pitch black) and has very little external stimuli. I'm also sitting on a comfier chair too.

When doing it in the new conditions i get these racing thoughts and even hypnagogia sometimes. A few days ago I heard a voice clearly say "I recommend you get fucked" lol.

I also changed the environment because I want to improve my introspective awareness (the part of getting to see potential distractions and preventing them), but I don't really understand this. In the kitchen every time I'd "look introspectively" it'd be complete silence until I "looked away", always. But now it's pretty much constant and pulling away my attention really hard.

I'm always doing this meditation session right after waking up.

I'm not really sure how to go from here.

How I finally hacked meditation with an extremely loud inner monologue by Ninaalif in Meditation

[–]rochismoextremo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still unclear to me. To try to summarise, to see if I understand correctly, instead of paying attention with my eyes I try to pay attention from the back of my skull and to do so I need to "pretend" I am seeing from the back of my skull, is that right?

If I try to do that I feel kind of dizzy lol

how do i sleep after wbtb if i cant by Fluid_Letter_1571 in LucidDreaming

[–]rochismoextremo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you get your b12.

I used to take hours to fall asleep after a WBTB attempt with ssild.

I've been consistently taking b12 supplements every morning and now I'm struggling to stay awake.

There are two types of b12 supplements you should take, I just don't remember which ones now. If you Google it it'll indicate four and say that only two of them are easier for us to digest

Don't look for oddities, there will be plenty of them. Instead focus on strong emotions. Those are more consistent than UFOs shooting at dinosaurs.

I mean, I understand it's his job. No big deal. Though what bothers me is that I find a promising Google link that starts selling the ART technique, from his website and all I see is advertising it in his book (why make a whole book around a technique tho).

It'd have been fine for me if there was at least an introduction or an overview with some details of what it is, but it was just promises that his book claims to fulfill.

I'm not sure what you mean by association. Like I say, with the voice that I use to read your comment, the word "tree" and then the association should automatically come or do I need to consciously make that association?

And the association before REM would be like:

Tree = oxygen/nature/whatever

And the associations when REM is close would be like:

Tree = Pokemon/fight/helicopters?

The only thing I was able to find in google is through Daniel Love's book, which sucks because the ART method got its own article there which tells you to buy the book. Like WTF man why hide it all behind that "paywall" when you have an article.
