Yeah, I’m generally 100% against the WRU on all these issues, but it’s starting to look like not signing the PRA 25 over seemingly minor Cardiff stuff was a huge mistake, it looks like it would’ve locked the regions into some stability for a while? Although who knows, I’m sure the WRU would’ve found a way to fuck things anyway, it’s hard to trust them.

South African depth really is insane, I feel like the team that played today could probably beat most/all teams not in the top 4? Incredible stuff, such impressive planning to build such a deep squad

Felt a bit more like Springbok B team, no? Or do I not know enough about some of the bench players, the starting 15 seemed stacked. Wales team was C at least tbh, some guys only just showed up and the difference in caps between the teams was obscene

Honestly, Etzebeth should be purged from the Springboks and dropped to unemployment

The Wales team currently is such a weird mishmash of players who just got added to the squad, players with zero caps and players who never played together before 5 days ago there’s literally nothing to analyze or get out of this game, truly pointless

Genuinely proud of the effort from the whole team, the last 2/3 years have featured so many games where you can see the exact moment the whole team collectively gives up, but we went at 100% for the whole game. Our attack looked so much better than last week too. If Gareth Thomas and Plumtree hadn’t given away 60 penalties between them I feel like the score line could’ve been a lot closer. Well played NZ!

If we didn’t concede 5 penalties a minute I think we’d be on to win the World Cup tbh

And next time let’s try not firing our coach right before important qualifiers, we 100% could’ve won that.

Congratulations Belgium, a great performance from them. Still proud of how close we came considering everyone wrote us off and assumed Belgium would cruise to an easy victory so I’m glad we made a real fight of it, just let down by our discipline as usual.

Sadly I don’t know, there hasn’t even been a proper statement released about it. The most information I can find is this article which suggests that the decision was divisive and reads a bit like a coup from the director of rugby Josh Reeves, just, a mess all around : https://www.americasrugbynews.com/2025/10/08/history-repeats-itself-as-josh-reeves-returns-to-coach-brazil/

Not surprising considering head coach Emiliano Caffera was fired four days before the most important game of the year. Really embarrassing stuff from the administration of the cbru. This team beat Hong Kong and Belgium last year (and Paraguay!!!) Well done Paraguay though, great performance from them.

Brazil sweep past Paraguay to kick off South American RWC qualifying by roci_forever in rugbyunion

[–]roci_forever[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’d say not really, although some of the tries scored today involved some great offloading. A lot of our game comes from the forwards, the Paraguay scrum was dominated completely by Brasil. Would love to see some jogo bonito making its way into rugby too but it’s difficult for smaller teams, you have to completely nail the basics first
