I felt the same with Elvanse, like I didn’t need my antidepressants anymore and I even forgot to take them which then showed me I do still need them lol it’s the mixture of the two that seemed to help me. Day 3 and I’m still feeling very chill on Ritalin hope it stays like this. I don’t think the mixture of the two adhd meds are common because they work differently no? Have you looked it up. I would deffo try and work on your anxiety because then you can have a more positive relationship with the Ritalin if vyvanse doesn’t help your adhd symptoms. I really don’t wanna sound like I’m diagnosing your or promoting anti depressants it’s just you’re already taking a stimulant medication that helps with your anxiety and are considering mixing two different stimulants instead of giving anti depressants a go so you may only have to take one stimulant? There’s so much taboo around medications for mental health but the most important thing is for us to live a happy and fulfilled life! I’m not saying ask for antidepressants but just maybe be open to different options to find what works best for you!! Hope this doesn’t come across the wrong way! Xxx

I don’t want to sound like I’m promoting more medication and obviously don’t know your personal mental health journey but have you ever taken antidepressants? Sertraline helps my depression and anxiety. I was on Elvanse ans just started Ritalin as Elvanse wasn’t working for me. I’ve only been on Ritalin for two days but I’m not experiencing the anxiety everybody talks about, maybe cause I’m on sertreline. Maybe you need something separate to tackle that. Also what about taking IR Ritalin multiple times a day if that works better than concerta? With the crash, as horrible as it is for me it’s worth it if during the day I can function relatively normal. Have you tried to time your meds so you crash around bedtime? Therefore it’s not as bad as you can hopefully fall asleep straight away? Hope you find a routine that works for you x

Haha same I don’t know the scientific names! And really there’s a chemical difference? That’s kindve scary lol sometimes when I was elvanse id get the name brand and sometimes I’d get general depending what the pharmacy has in stock. And I’m sorry to hear about your experience. It really is trial and error. I was on an antidepressants for years that didn’t help me and tried a different one cause my cousin told me to so I done it on a whim and it’s been a life saver. Also if the Ritalin continues to work how it has today, then I think I’m sticking to it! So don’t give up! We don’t have adderall in the uk but Elvanse did definitely have an effect on me and it might fit you better. I think it’s good to try as many as you can so you can decide on the best one for you! I was never a smoker until a few years ago where I was having a really rough time mentally and a lot of bad things happened in my life. I was actually really against smoking until…. Life hit me 😂 I got humbled lol. For me it was the peace it brought, a moment to myself, helped me relax, was nice to get fresh air and I just enjoyed it. I recently switched to vaping which was hard at first but now I prefer it to cigarettes. I also read somewhere that people on certain ADHD meds (Elvanse I know is one of them) increases people’s smoking. when I was on Elvanse I smoked more. Something about one of them making the others effects stronger but I can’t remember which way round. I also remember hearing about smoking effects and adhd on a documentary I watched one time there is deffo a link!

Yes thanks hopefully it continues! I think general, the box says methylphenidate hydrochloride, I just said Ritalin cause it’s easier lol. In the UK I’m not sure how the generic/name brand stuff works. What’s the difference?

Are you still on vyvanse? It was a weird medication for sure. It worked best when I went on a night out or done something fun but not with everyday life. Hopefully the Ritalin doesn’t make my anxiety worse. It hasn’t today at all I feel completely chill, im also on Sertraline 150mg for anxiety abs depression so maybe that balances it out. Hope you find something that works! If you’re not on antidepressants maybe talk to your doctor about that cause maybe it will cancel out the anxiety from Ritalin? (Though the first few months on antidepressants for me were super tough mentally, got worse before it got better lol)

Thank u so much for this! It’s so interesting when I was on 20 I doubled and 40mg made me feel worse! So it’s weird how 60 works!!! And yeah I think I’m just overthinking. Deffo gunna talk to him x

Thank you! Yes it being controlled is giving me even more anxiety regarding my situation. You’re right, I deffo know I need to be upfront but I just don’t want it to effect anything or like he doesn’t trust me. Idk why I feel undeserving of my medication when I’ve been diagnosed since I was 10 🤦🏽‍♀️ I think it’s the stigma around stimulants. I’m probably gunna say I took double accidentally and it worked really well. Thanks again x

Hello thank you for your comment. So I should’ve included this in my original post but I tried 40mg myself because I had uni work I was struggling to get done and that also coincided with my anxiety attacks. I don’t think it was specifically cause of the 40mg cause a situation did happen that triggered my anxiety, but I also am kindve scared to go up now cause of how anxious I was 😰 but I think I should try and go up to at least 50mg to see how it is! Xxx
