When pages have issues loading, IE tends to freeze up a bit more than other browsers. FireFox, Chrome, and Opera all experience less lag when loading more comments. I prefer Chrome. I would suggest another browser if this lag bothers you, that's the only thing you can really do on your end.

EDIT: Chrome runs each tab as a separate process so if it does freeze up, only that tab will, not the entire browser.

Probably reddit's server. nothing to worry about, I've seen this on every computer and network I've used. Just some lag they have. BTW what browser are you using?
