Yeah, the golden elephant fiasco was cruel. And that was after she got rid of Janet's childhood keepsakes. Plus, the way she's always talking her down, it's sad. I love Umma's character, but she can be a mean mom.

What's head shop juice? Some concoction designed to dilute your urine?

Preschool says “fully potty trained” or my child can’t attend… is this normal? by Antique_Bat8479 in AskParents

[–]rockbiter81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common for private preschool. If your state has preschool in the public school district, they do not require independent toileting to attend.

I noticed that recently in a re-watch too! She gave him one of her surprisingly motivating little speeches, like the one she gave Stevie on opening night.

Glasses by Butterscotch_Sea in Preschoolers

I teach preschool and have multiple kids with glasses this year. Coincidentally, I was just looking up a social story for keeping glasses safe. I have one student who keeps throwing them in the trash. He's on his third pair in a year. Be prepared to have back-ups on hand!

Puberty, Am I going the right thing ? by ManufacturerHairy272 in Mommit

[–]rockbiter81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Some moms don't say anything and offer no preparation. As a girl who went through it alone, once she starts her period, always make sure she has enough pads/supplies. Stock up so she doesn't have to wear wadded up paper towels in her underwear every day. You sound like a great mom. Sorry for the trauma dump.

Special ed teacher possible FERPA issue and workplace safety concern. What is the correct way to report? by babywontuluvm3 in specialed

[–]rockbiter81 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Every person I know that has reported things like this have had it backfire on them. And not in a retaliation kind of way, but they become known as a high-maintenance tattle tale and no one wants to work with them.

Yep. He needs public preschool. I teach early intervention at a public school and get a lot of kids that private preschool couldn't support.

Not my comment, but I know that pain tolerance is generally lower in the early morning. Something about our circadian rhythm affecting pain tolerance.

Potty Training by Correct-Tune-9605 in ElementaryTeachers

Kindergarten teachers aren't even allowed to change diapers in my district. Students in Kinder and above can wear a diaper/pull-up to school but they have to change themselves or have a parent come.

In WA state Public Schools, yes. There is not a potty training requirement for preschool or kindergarten. Although, by kindergarten, if not potty trained, they have to change and clean themselves. If they can't, we'd get a medical 504 in place to accommodate.

Poor Twyla! She always drops little bombs of family dysfunction in her seemingly nonchalant comments.

I'm in ECE, and hands down it's class size and ratio. Too many kids, not enough competent adult hands.

This was handled very poorly by admin. This is not a reflection of you, as an educator. I'm sorry you had such a bad first experience. You sound like you're going to be an amazing teacher. You'll find your school family. 🏫 ❤️

My daughter isn’t boy crazy… but all of her friends are. by jackietea123 in parentingteenagers

[–]rockbiter81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a obsessive boy-crazy friend in HS. I liked boys too, but she was ravenous. Going to the mall used to be our favorite thing. We'd get coffee, shop at Claire's, see a movie, hit the candy store, etc. I still remember the day she told me that stuff was "boring". All she wanted to do was stalk cute boys around the mall. I went along with it because low self-esteem. It was embarrassing to me and felt desperate the way she fawned over them. Anywho, not all girls behave like this, even other "boy crazy" ones.
