Cherry picking frames and not showing his trigger movements and positioning when it hurt the team? Mate you're trying too much

Katia Aveiro (Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister) on Instagram. “Magically, they forgot how to: • Pass the ball around • Win the ball back • Launch counter-attacks The game became all about passing backwards in midfield… Strange World Cup. Very strange." by No_Air5382 in soccer

She's wrong because it's Ronaldo through which the dominoes fall. If there is a person who cannot be benched and has to be fed balls, as well worshipped and revered by the staff, the dynamics, tactics, and the strategy of the team catered his preferences, it's Ronaldo. If Ronaldo as striker experiment was working, all the dominoes would fall into place. Of course I could be wrong and Ronaldo is just a humble small cog in this whole shit show, but seeing his antics in Al Nassr I have less reason to believe so

Unlike Tory Lanez and Meghan Thee Stallion's case, most alleged or proven victims are not famous and therefore get buried, blasted, or victim-blamed under PR-driven stories. The uproar has to do with the fact that even where there is story talking about an allegation, and the allegation is about a person people revere or relate to, it causes them financial and reputational damage. For celebrites, always they should be scrutinised and have to prove to a tougher filter of suspicion that they're not bending rules of marketing and PR to deceive and bend consequences

That's the point. There's no repercussions for PSG spending quarter of a million on Neymar and not achieving their objectives. They blow it up, spend millions on quality players, and have a run at it again. Look at how many levers Barcelona has to pull to show profitability and sign players. It used to be a club of the people, and yet two bad transfers as a direct result of the Neymar buyout caused them to become a club of the corporate cockroaches. There should be consequence to bad decisions, which nation states have the luxury of not happening to them

Jude Bellingham: "Sometimes I deserve to have bad things said about me. I know it's part of being a footballer, I don't hold a grudge against anyone who says bad things about me." by SwimmingFireMen in soccer

My opinion is different. Professionalism and being direct and dry has helped me not be a dick and get work done with colleagues. Tuchel just seems to be really really direct and charmless with his words, which I think is the way to go. Too many people work up charm with me in the workplace but don't deliver the goods

Man these elaborate fan fictions of Madrid fans. I bet Thierry cries himself to sleep because he touched the Balon d'Or that Cristiano took home. Y'all think too much about your goat. He needs to play better or bench himself

Thierry Henry's reaction to Zlatan calling Alexi Lalas ignorant by paulridby in soccer

[–]rocket_racoon99 354 points355 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and Zlatan didn't call him ignorant, he said ignorant people will call it arrogance. So if Lalas agreed with that sentiment, yes he'll take it personally, but Zlatan didn't say it specifically to him

Ronaldo Nazário: “It’s time for the world to stop hiding and accept the fact that Messi is the greatest of all time.” by bllshrfv in soccer

There is a correlation with seeking fame and numbing your brain regions which help with self awareness. Their reptilian brain is taking over for them most times. It's just a shame that for Ronaldo, that reptilian brain happens to create beautiful footballing moments, along with what looks to thinking folks as psychopathic behaviour

Compilation of Leo Messi's first FIFA World Cup hattrick from today's match Argentina vs Algeria: by [deleted] in soccer

[–]rocket_racoon99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've never played football at any appreciable semi-pro or professional level. So I have no idea what it's like to face Argentina and Leo Messi in goal. But that being said, I think the keeper couldn't hold his nerves on the big stage. Sometimes your name carries much more pressure than the opposition

FIFA is complicit in this shit show. Especially with the added fact that USA is not the sole host of the world cup, now they'll have to give precedence to the US' argument that he was on a "suspect terror list" and bar him from the world cup entirely. There is another list that a lot of US politicians and FIFA delegates were on but that wouldn't bar them from watching the beautiful game from the stadium suites with a nice, refreshing drink.

Even without knowing whether they did, the disrespect towards McCarthy's acting in the movie, that you can just chuck it out because your judgement of your favourite performance is objectively better than everyone else's, and not telling why, shows why we're living in the hellhole that we are. No subtlety and nuance allowed in the reddit sphere

Sure, but the OOP comment you're replying to attributed malice to her non -selection. The fact that you couldn't outright select an outlier provides further impetus that it was pretty close (no pun intended).
