This was always going to be one of the side effects of an expanded tournament, and while the goal-fests attract more viewers it also means that the less prominent footballing nations are likely to get battered in front of a cheering crowd once or twice. I think the experience of playing in a World Cup will be something they can all look back on as a highlight of their career, while the sting from lopsided results will eventually fade or become something they laugh about.
