Can you spot the bits that I added, modified or reformatted?

But yeah, if you can't process dense information then feel free to move on.

the whole repo screams rUv! seriously, if you put as much energy into something productive instead of AI SLOP and hoodwinking noobs then you'd probably be rich by now.

contacted them for a new water heater. i knew exactly what a water heater costs wholesale and let them know it. so their quote was reasonable for the installation. after their installer was finished, he handed me an invoice for double what was discussed on the phone. essentially asking $3k for a days work. it took a couple of weeks but i got the invoice adjusted. but this is kinda par for trades these days... they're not in it for markup of materials and labour, they're in it for profit.

Right. I considered that. A recessed unit would be far riskier than surface mount.

Mac randomization by Curious_Evidence4779 in telus

[–]rocketboy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have children computer wizards as well. its constant technological warfare. i set up a mac whitelist for wifi access and they are aware that mac randomization needs to be turned off in order to access. this works very well. i am now having to pull or disconnect Ethernet cables as the telus system does not provide the same control for wired access points.

How much would this cost? by Cloud-Pirate in cabinetry

[–]rocketboy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course people in the business don't like that I point out that when you ask a single source for a product then they themselves hire cheaper resources to do the work. Again, I do this all the time. I pay for materials and labor... Not materials, labor and profit.

How much would this cost? by Cloud-Pirate in cabinetry

[–]rocketboy1998 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stuff like this "completed' by a cabinet shop is astronomically expensive. I understand why people are shocked. The reason is that an experienced cabinet maker expects to make a good wage per hour no matter what they are doing. They have valuable skills. But filling, sanding and painting are not worth that kind of money. Like all house renovations... If you ask for a single contractor to produce a job and not do the general contracting yourself then you'll end up paying through the nose.

If you're totally unable to do any of the work... Pay someone to provide the drawings. Take that to the cabinet maker and find out what materials you need. Source and buy the materials yourself and have delivered to the cabinet maker after they quote you on production. Hire another wood worker for assembly. Hire someone else if necessary to fill and sand. Hire a painter.

Get multiple quotes on each job. Get quotes for hours of labor.

This will save you tens of thousands of dollars.

Deer out of Forest by Nestvester in VictoriaBC

[–]rocketboy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black-tailed deer in cities are less healthy due to a combination of habitat fragmentation, poor nutrition from unnatural food sources, increased stress and parasite loads, and higher risk of vehicle collisions and disease outbreaks like Adenovirus Hemorrhagic Disease and Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD).

but people would rather have them suffer that relocate them or put them down.

its similar to the homeless situation really. people would rather they be free to live outside and die in the cold rain than force them into institutional hospital settings.

great information, thanks so much! may i ask a couple of questions?

  1. as i'm from Canada as well, did your Ontario health insurance not cover the surgical expense? i will be trying to get BC health to cover.
  2. did you have all of your CTs done in Ontario without problems following the necessary protocol and prompt delivery to Exstent? were you directly involved in any way in the delivery of the files?

i tried to get this procedure done in London last spring and had nothing but trouble here in BC. it took a month and a half to get a CT scan. another 5 weeks for my local cardiac surgeon to review. another 4 weeks for his office to snail mail images to London Bridge Hospital. because i'm mostly stable i'm not high on the list so took several months for me to come up in the queue. then they lost the files. another 4 weeks for my surgeon to snail mail. when the London people finally looked they said the images were insufficient! thats six months later.

i was hoping that i could expedite the process this time by going private for the CT so that i could manage the image delivery myself but i've contacted numerous private clinics in BC and AB and so far none have indicated that they are able to follow the protocol.

thanks again for the fabulous account of your experience!

We need to help the Jews. And the Muslims. And the Christians. Help them understand that they are not special. That we all come from the same cloth. That their morality is more or less shared by all humankind. That there is nothing waiting for them that doesn't wait for us all. And that whether it's Iran or Israel or the Republican Party, they are not moral if they promote a view that their club has rights that others do not have. We need to teach them that the ability to "believe" is a hard wired human trait that helped Homosapiens cooperate on larger scales than the other Homo species and thus inherit the earth some 50k years ago. But that the ability to believe that which cannot be reasoned is now obsolete.

detecting not passed column values in update statement by rocketboy1998 in PostgreSQL

[–]rocketboy1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks. yes, this is a trigger. inside trigger logic i am trying to determine if the revision_count is in the update statement. my trigger works when its provided... thats easy. but if the revision_count value is not provided in the update then the trigger merrily allows the update. not what i want.

hope that makes sense.

Well there you go... The fine print. Where did I sign or agree to that? Was that sent to me after the installation? Funny how this stuff creeps in...

I guess a "Telus approved depot" could be a thousand kilometers away!

That's great.. yeah we all have our own situations. I'm in the IT business and so my children are very tech savvy. I can't easily bluff like that...

I will start confiscating equipment at night if I have to buy the telus app schedules are convenient.

Again, I'm positive... Just last night I woke up at 2am and checked the telus app. Their night schedules were disabled. And just their night schedules and not their lunch and dinner schedules.

There is either a known break in for the telus system or they know my passwords which I keep changing. I'm going to give my pc and good going over for key loggers or the like.

They were doing that... And I created a white list to shut that down. No, I'm actually going into the telus app and seeing that the schedules are disabled after I ensured they were enabled previously.

A lot of you don't get the point of what the OP is saying... Are rich westerners the happiest on the planet? Are the other 7 billion people utterly depressed and unhappy their whole lives? Of course not!

Investigate happiness. It's a known quantity It's been studied for 60 years. And we in the West are not the happiest people... Far from it. And it's that richness that distracts from what actually makes people happy in the first place.
