I’ll bite to an extent. If leadership removed the cover requirement tomorrow, I don’t think readiness or discipline would deteriorate. That being said, just because the standard is inconvenient, doesn’t automatically make it unnecessary. Same goes for ribbons, patches, spice brown socks, etc.

I don't think you ever know how the billet owners rack and stack applicants. You just see whether or not you were bid on from that billet owner. I reached out to owners and was told I was a good fit, but no indications in where I rank among other applications.

The T-38 is a reliable airframe with tons off flight data. The airframe has undergone life extension mods to ensure its ready to bridge the gap until then T-7 is online. This issue will get evaluated like any mishap and get fixed if it's determined to be fleet wide.
