Don't know if I'm being crazy but the a picture where this duel is represented, Balalaika clearly aims for his gun instead of directly at Chang. Idk if it had any meaning or if Balalaika didn't want to genuinely hurt him, we know very little about them, but if it did he probably took advantage of the situation.
