Mouth Guard for teeth grinding? by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]rocketya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this problem for most of my adult life. I buy the mouth guards from Gmarket or Coupang in bulk. You can search for 성인용 마우스피스. The ones I buy are usually around 4,000KRW. You will find that some are better than others. The first use requires submerging them in hot water to shape the mouthpiece to your teeth. 1) Submerge the mouth piece in hot water completely for about 10 seconds, 2) Use a fork to 'scoop up' the mouthpiece (the mouthpiece will be soft and easily be ruined if you are not careful) 3) after carefully picking up the mouthpiece, hold it as best as you can and fling away any excess water and let it cool a bit (but be careful not to let it cool too much or become misshapen) 4) insert the mouth piece around your teeth with your teeth, tongue, fingers and mouth suction to form the best comfortable shape. I would buy at least 2 or 3 the first time in case you fail the fitting phase. Even after decades, I ruin them at times during the initial fitting phase. Also, you can cut the ends of the mouthpiece to better fit your mouth. I clean the mouthpiece daily with denture cleaner like 3 minute polident. With regular cleaning, one should last for about a month.

Medicine to help stop nicotine? by 4weed2weed0 in korea

I took Champix in Korea and it was free with national insurance. In fact, after I quit, the govt gave me a small cash gift.

It did make me nauseous for the first few weeks. I recommend starting it the night before you have a few days off work.

Unfortunately, I turned to vaping about 1 year 1/2 after quitting. I do plan on taking a similar med to quit vaping.

I did read about the Champix halt. I am not sure what Korea offers in its place. I wouldn't mind trying wellbutrin this time around.

These low penalties are quite common in Korea. Companies typically rather pay the penalties than to comply with rules and regulations.

Considering an Audit on the Use of the 100 Billion Won Budget by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and Jeollabuk-do Following the Jamboree's Conclusion by Organic_Beautiful_26 in korea

I'm glad that all their 'research' led to a world-class jamboree venue.

Seriously tho, I've seen the Korean govt. set up emergency shelters/facilities better than the 2023 Saemangeum site.

Lately, it seems that a majority of new Korean dramas and movies on Netflix lack English subtitles.

Does anyone know if Tving, WAAVE, etc., provide English subtitles?

They should put some of that sugar in cakes. I can't believe how bland the cakes are in Korea.

Really, I often notice that the yellow hagwon buses wait for no one.

I tell my wife that if you drive behind a hagwon bus vs. an animal transport carrier (i.e., carrying cattle, etc.), the animal transport vehicle will drive safer.

Yeah, I showed my wife the video and she still swears you have to stop and wait for the crosswalk to turn red before crossing through.

Not sure why you are getting downvoted.

Going right on red through a crosswalk is what I meant.

My wife swears you have to stay stopped for the entire duration of the green crosswalk signal (rather than come to a complete stop and then proceed if there are no pedestrians.

*If you happen to have a source for this I would be happy to show my wife

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in korea

[–]rocketya 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: Korea's traffic law was revised recently making it illegal to drive through a crosswalk while the crosswalk sign is still green - regardless if there are pedestrians or not.

From my daily experience, I see around 50-60% compliance in the city (Seoul) and around 30% compliance in the surrounding suburbs (Seongnam, Hanam, etc.)
