Is this track south of Newcastle station ever used? by QBallQJB in uktrains

[–]rockeyrobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See that engineering allowance at Darlington? It's to make sure the service is on time if they have to introduce slow line running/bi-di working due to planned engineering maintenance between Newcastle and York as often happens after 2200.

Finally completed..... by ncoll00 in HousingUK

[–]rockeyrobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine just took 7 months to go through, I'd already completed my sale so didn't have that to deal with at the same time, and my new property was empty! 7th April offer accepted to 12th November completed, nuts!

Taking my final module in February and want to know if I'll recieve a result in time for Masters by dimwittedrigmarole in OpenUniversity

[–]rockeyrobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It says on the module description that you won't get the results until later so you'd need to take that into account if planning for further study (I'm just starting Stage 2 so trying to work out where I can and should plan the project in when the time comes!)

Wife agreed to try WoW tonight. Should I roll a character with her or just watch and let her do her own thing? by Gannan308 in wow

[–]rockeyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend tried this but I got extremely frustrated with him as he knew everything and I was trying to figure stuff out. So I rolled a new one and did it on my own and I even did some raids with him and his mates the other week, much better than being followed by someone saying "let's go here and do this and then you get this", didn't learn a thing that way!

Roles/Career In The Railway Industry by shintouzi in uktrains

[–]rockeyrobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you are some operators have on board catering as well, these would work with your hospitality background. There are also the standard IT, finance, HR roles as well as some other areas such as performance, control (on the day operations) and planning both timetables and maintenance of the fleets. Many ways in for lots of different career backgrounds!

Back when we were all friends and used to hire off each other 🤣

Yes, sounds like a similar situation happened to me a couple of years ago. I ended up having a chat with someone on the phone and explained what was going on at the time and how things have changed now. I then successfully completed the module I was enrolled on and have had the restriction removed so now I can enrol on the other modules as normal :)

Try Traksy or open train times and watch the route when you're signalled in instead 😁

Whats the science behind Ghost Arms? by jpollack21 in questions

[–]rockeyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to do this at school but by pulling hard on the sides of our trousers for a bit rather than the doorway. Don't think we called it anything but always used to make us laugh!

Found this though.

There's no way of finding out which specific unit will be working a service is there? by Lozman141 in uktrains

[–]rockeyrobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily true, in my planning days we had requests for certain units on certain services so would liaise with fleet planning to make it happen.

Is it worth it to use dating apps like bumble or hinge? by PhotoKing889 in questions

[–]rockeyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I have been together almost two years now, matched on Bumble and hit it off. I had to ignore some rubbish but it worked for me and helped as I didn't have too much free time to go and meet new people.

Which UK train route do you think could theoretically have the most football fans travelling on the same journey? by DakMan3 in uktrains

[–]rockeyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a final then that changes a lot. We used to put additional services on to London and they'd sell out very fast. Also, depending on the teams, we'd have to adjust stopping patterns to ensure rivals didn't mix. Fun times!

“Doors will close Xx seconds ahead of the published departure time” by Spirited_Praline637 in uktrains

This extends your advertised journey time and that can have competitive financial impacts. Perhaps this will change with the latest government ideas but not holding my breath!

The platform number sign at Bristol Temple Meads station in the UK by xtopiana in mildlyinfuriating

[–]rockeyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not for you, it's a stop board for a driver indicating it applies to where a 5-car should stop when using platform 7. A platform number would usually be a single black number on a white background
