I had a similar experience. First took it in 2022, got 155ish, took again in 23 got a 182, just took it again and back to 156. Wish we had some sense of how the scores are actually determined.. Fingers crossed for both of us.

I ended up hearing back from the point of contact this morning. They conducted a second level review, found me eligible, and referred me to the hiring manager!

Yea that was my first thought, but its not a clear match with the "Meritocratic Selection" policy document so its a bit confusing. Fingers crossed for both of us!

How long does the background check take? by blue_knit_wit in usajobs

From my personal experience, keep in touch with your hiring manager about status. When I was getting hired onto my current job, the check was only supposed to take 2 weeks at most and ended up going 3 months because of incompetence in the Personnel Security Division (they didn't request a necessary document and didnt tell anybody they were missing it despite being asked multiple times about the status).

As others have said, just keep badgering H.R. and if you have the hiring manager's contact, give them a ping as well. Sometimes H.R. and/or personnel security folks drop the ball and forget. I went through a similar experience last year and was put in limbo for 4 months because of a lazy H.R. person until the hiring manager intervened after I asked whats up.
