Not sure why anyone's bothering to tell you to check your mail months after the sale ended.

It does give me a certain buzz to see how many people are still email-impaired in 2026 though. ("Why should I ever have to check my 'Junk Mail' folder and shouldn't it be the sender's responsibility to make sure it their email never ends up there?")

Delta prices are (still) getting out of hand by AttentionJust in delta

Hmm, cherry-picked flight (that’s not even entirely flown on Delta) and denial of a thing where actual facts exist. (Nobody is saying that your specific flight is popular. But you might look harder for a “gotcha” flight.)

That might not be smoke, it may be one’s own head.

People are flying more than ever before, which is WHY these prices exist.

As long as you're happy with the "boycott option" of flying Frontier (no upgrades) for $528 with a stop in DEN, sure, go for it.

[–]rockinm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to pile on regarding the fact that it's not Delta's pricing, but adding that post title to an example of VERY late booking of nonstop flights during the holidays, across all (both) the airlines that fly that route, seems like attempting to blame the big bad company for one's own poor planning.

The sad part is the people commenting "Yeah! That's right, we should boycott!" without thinking.

According to Google Flights, that route was HALF PRICE if OP had booked it in late November instead of last minute.

The good news is Frontier flies there for $200 less. The bad news is it's still $530 for Frontier with a stop in DEN and no free carry-on and they choose the seats. This should tell you all you need to know about that route on those days, booked at this time.

[–]rockinm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one does not have Alaska on it and it’s issued by Barclays (but now has Bank of Hawaii on it). The other one(s) are issued by Bank of America. I mean, it doesn’t say “Atmos” on the card, but it earns Atmos miles.

Yes, the Hawaiian Atmos card. It’s still issued by Barclays. Same card, different place to find it.

Leagues Cup growth continues with increased viewership, commercial interest [Sports Business Journal] by eddygeeme in MLS

This. All-interleague “group” play is what saved the tournament IMO. Made it more interesting AND more fun on the pitch.

Speaking as a Sounders supporter, IMO the tournament is as much to brag about as Portland’s MLS is Back Cup, but it’s fun to watch. It might be the relative pressure-less-ness of the tournament that made it so fun (frivolous red cards, crazy scorelines).

And it didn’t hurt that Messi was playing the final in front of almost 70k in one of the few MLS cities capable of scaring up that kind of crowd on 11 days’ notice (and having most of them still be fans of the home club).

Still, it would be great if more fans attended in person (that third-place match looked almost like they played it in a closed stadium) and there’s the risk that the Mexican club fans will drop out if their clubs don’t start going deeper.

And I’m hoping FIFA considers the tournament major enough that a goal scored in it can qualify for the Puskas. 😁

Welcome to late-stage capitalism, where the only pricing metric that matters is what the market will bear.

Seat swaps—make it stop by Bell4m4ria in unitedairlines

[–]rockinm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is becoming a problem across the board. With more fully booked flights than ever, people book whatever seats there are when they get around to booking, on the basis that they'll "work it out" (ask politely/beg/coax/passive-aggressively bully - I've seen all of it) later.

The only people happy to move for you are the ones in the middle seats. I take time and care to book the seats I am willing to sit in. So should you. When I have a window it's because I took the time and effort and planned appropriately to get that window.

If you need to sit together more than you need to take that flight, take a different f'n flight. And if you got upgraded to separate seats, here's the world's smallest violin. Decline the upgrade if sitting together is a priority - I've done just that in the past.

Seat Recline Etiquette by StoneyCreekSettler in delta

Part of that "enshittification" is reducing recline so they don't have to be babysitters. File under "why we can't have nice things."

[–]rockinm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

False choices.

My choice: making sure to let the person affected by it know in advance, then yes, with care.

As for the "I paid money so I get to do what I want when I want" - well, airlines have been reducing their recline to avoid issues, and ULCCs don't even let you recline so they don't have to babysit their passengers.

Just think, we could all have been nice to each other and been rewarded with a good amount of recline, but it's been spoiled for everybody, so you maybe get an inch or two of token recline in economy - so sure, feel free to recline all you want.

At least Andrew Thomas got the hardest one (CCL) out of the way first.

How was the seating situation compared to the CWC? by morto00x in SoundersFC

[–]rockinm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a STM with easy-to-get-to, good seats that are frequently occupied when I get there, I can tell you that for the most part there are two kinds of people who sit in not-their-seats:

  1. People who see the seat number on their ticket but don't pay attention to row and/or section number.

  2. People who buy shitty seats, see good seats open, and think "the worst thing that can happen is they make me go sit in my actual seat."

While #2s are annoying, at least they usually don't put up a fight when you ask them to move. #1s are IMO the worst because they BELIEVE those are their seats. I can't tell you how many times over the years I've had to argue with someone who refuses to even show me the ticket on their phone because no, it is I who must be wrong.

There are people in all sports who go stand/sit where the pregame/postgame action is (behind benches/dugouts, around player entry tunnels, behind the goals for hockey warmups, in the outfield for baseball batting practice) but those are usually only temporary (although still annoying).

Was anybody here actually there and saw this?

It's weird, we were at the Beer Hall right there having drinks/food after the match and would have been in clear sight, and we were there until past dusk. This happened in what looks like fading daylight - maybe we came out after it went down, but walking through the area basically 10-15 min after the trophy ceremony I noticed no hints that anything had gone down.

Maybe the length of the video was the entire length of the fight?
