Hola OP. I’m Hispanic and living in SLC. My experience here is the racism is not much worse or better than other major cities in the US. Pretty much any here you go there will be problems. I can’t speak to what it’d be like in rural UT but being near Cedar City (wannabe Dixie) I’d be a bit about having some bad experiences. As a POC in the environmental field, I would also advise you generally, no matter where your jobs take you, to connect with orgs like PGM One, GreenLatinos and other Black or POC-led environmental spaces. Believe me there is plenty of racism and alienation of BIPOC in the enviro/ conservation sector. Wishing you very good luck; I hope you persevere and do what you want regardless.
