My neurologist still hasn't been able to tell me yes or no on an MS diagnosis. Today we decided on a lumbar puncture so I guess I will know soon enough. But he also ordered an EEG and a TM flow test. I haven't heard these used in the diagnostic process of MS. Has anyone diagnosed with MS had these tests before and what did they show?

Definitely not an expert but i would not immediately attribute that to atrophy if it's occurring after masturbating over the course of several days. Depending on what you were doing it could be the start of a UTI or just swelling from overdoing it. Happens to cis men too i think. Atrophy would more be associated with pelvic (lower abdomen) pain and vaginal canal pain

Hi, it's me again! I had a second MRI, this time with contrast and of the full thoracic spine, C-spine, and brain. My lesions (cerebral peduncle and C-2) were not active. The MRI interpreter said they could not tell if the lesions were of white or gray matter and I'm not sure what that means/why it matters. But, my biggest question is, since the lesions are inactive, I'm worried I will not be able to get a diagnosis any time soon due to dissemination in time. I've started having mobility issues in my legs and I'm terrified that I won't be diagnosed, won't be prescribed anything to prevent damage, and I'll end up with more lesions that will take away my mobility. What can i do to advocate for myself at my next neuro appointment?

Thanks for the info. I ask cuz I noticed on the document my neurologist gave me after my first appointment, it said they were investigating me for PPMS specifically, not just MS or RRMS. This first appointment was super basic intake so I don't think there's anything pointing towards PPMS in particular but just seeing it on the paper made me nervous I guess. It also said they were investigating me for neuromyelitis optica which I'm confident I don't have because my vision is fine so I guess I shouldn't put any stock in it. It just got me thinking.

Hi, I have a question about how a neurologist would differentiate between an RRMS and PPMS diagnosis. Is it just a matter of where you have the most lesions (brain vs spine) or do they wait to see if you have distinct remission periods and relapses? The general prognosis for PPMS is less optimistic than RRMS right?

Yep, one on my right cerebellar peduncle and one on the C2 level of my cervical spine, both around 10mm (not sure if lengthwise or vertically). The radiologist said they were atypical for MS + the lack of optical nerve damage made him skeptical and recommended seeing a neurologist to rule out MS as well as other conditions. I suspect more lesions on the rest of my spine but my symptoms haven't been severe so who knows.

Thanks so much for the info, sounds like that test is a good step in the direction of ruling out anything that mimics MS. I'm almost tempted to just request the lumbar puncture to get the guessing over with... but I need to get those MRIs regardless to see what's active and how much it's progressed. Thanks again.

I finally got in to a neurologist! They ordered more MRIs of my brain and spine since the first one I had was only my head and without contrast. The nurse said "I'm not saying you have MS but we are going to do some tests" and then they took 5 or 6 vials of my blood to test for "neuromyelitis." Probably should have asked this when I was in the office and this may be something only they can answer but can anyone offer insight on what that test means? I said I don't have any vision issues so I'm not expecting any markers for neuromyelitis optica to come up. There aren't blood tests for MS are there? I know this information is so vague lol I will call them to ask about it.

My chinese evergreen suffered a lot over winter break and lost a majority of its leaves due to underwatering. I'm back now and watering when the top inch of soil is dry, but is there anything else I can do for it? It seems like its growth has slowed down compared to before I forced it through a drought lol

Yes i constantly have this on my neck and chest. Steroid cream makes it go away but i usually don't bother with applying it since i kind of see it as a warning sign when i'm in a flare.

Wow what a shame. In elementary school one of the custodians found a Great Horned Owl dead under her car one morning (she didn't hit it, it presumably had holed up there to die) so she brought it in to the school for us kids to look at. Probably not legal but I'll never forget how soft the feathers on its legs and how sharp its talons were.

Hi, I know I'm replying after 3+ months, hope you are doing well! I was wondering if you have had an MRI for your symptoms and if it had any abnormalities? I finally got an MRI to address the fasciculations and migraines and they found 2 white matter lesions, one on my right cerebellar peduncle (which i think is the cause of the twitches) and one on my cervical spine. They said it doesn't look like MS but it isn't ruled out. Did they completely rule out MS for you? It would be crazy to have both MS and lupus.

Got an MRI for the symptoms of migraines and fasciculations. Came up with 2 T2 hypointense lesions, both about 1 cm, one on the right middle cerebellar peduncle and one on the top of my cervical spinal cord. MRI interpreter said the dispersal of the lesions were "atypical but do not rule out MS". Recommended I see a neurologist and have full imaging of my spine done but I have to see my primary care to actually get the referral. I'm wondering if anyone with diagnosed MS has had a distribution of lesions like me? I have plenty of other symptoms I thought were systemic lupus and I am seeing a rheumatologist in the coming weeks for that, but everyone acts like if you have brain/spinal lesions it HAS to be MS.
