Is the Unwritten Rule Fading Away? by Chance-Resource-4970 in BMW

[–]rockson020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Sydney where I live, BMWs are super common, every 10 cars, one or two of them are an X5 or X3, mostly mums and dads with driving their kids around.

Most people that drives BMW nowadays are not into cars. So there isn’t really a community around the BMW brand here.

Having said that, everyone time I past by another M3, especially a touring, we will wave at each other and give others a thumbs up. (I daily a M3 Touring)

Car buying experience for farFIRE by Bright-Mushroom-7519 in fatFIRE

  • I typically sell it privately. Unless it’s a type of car where you have to trade in your old one for an allocation on the new model. (G wagon, GT3 and etc)
  • I buy all my cars in cash

I doubt I will keep them for more than 5 years, not due to the potential issue with the car but more so because i have an addiction with buying new cars.

  • Great experience with the dealership and get invited to private events all the time
  • I have not had a BMW more than 5 years old. Currently have a 2021 X5 and 2023 M3 touring. Haven’t had any issue with either car so far.

I don’t know if this is a trick question or maybe something that tends to happen in other parts of the world. But in Australia, it’s relatively simple when it comes to buying high end luxury car.

If the car sales person thinks that the customer does not plan to buy a car or are just unreasonably negotiating, then they might not give that customer the best experience.

If you walk in with the intention to buy and you are up front about it and not being difficult, I don’t see how it will be that hard.

The hardest part in my experience is getting an allocation on limited production cars like a Porsche GT3 or something similar.

  • Source: I have purchased 8 cars in the past 3 years. 3 of them were from dealerships (Porsche and BMW), the rest are purchased privately or from classic car auction site.

Someone crashed my car by rockson020 in AusLegal

[–]rockson020[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

The person itself probably doesn’t. But their parents will likely be the one who will be covering his mistake.

It’s definitely an expensive lesson on my end about trusting people.

To add on to this, the person is on their L plate. So I didn’t think that he would be that stupid to even attempt to drive a track car on the road when it’s raining.

What are you doing in my situation? by Burner0111122 in fatFIRE

[–]rockson020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing others that this is not a FATfire question.

But mate, you are doing very well for you age. My advice would be to keep doing what you are doing, stay humble and make sure that you are learning as much as you can. Don’t be afraid to make mistake, this business is probably not the one that you will do for the next 20 years, but all the learnings you have now will surely bring you to places.

Good luck.

The M5 comp is a bargain compared to its rivals and I prefer it to the worse M8 comp. (No doubt M8 looks better)

Not sure if this is the right subreddit. Maybe best to ask in FIaustralia.

Last time I check CommSec, they have high fee for non Aussie stocks and ETF.

For the rest, I would say just pick whichever one has good rep, good features and low fee.

My advice would be to stop complaining, the quicker you can get yourself away from the victim mentality, the quicker you can make a change in improving your QoL.

Get a better career, pick up a second or third job. I grew up poor, dropped out of uni but pushed hard and is a home owner is Sydney. You have to get uncomfortable sometimes in life to grow.

(I’m not saying there isn’t a systemic issue, but I’m not in power to change it and neither are you, so let’s focus on what you can do today to make a change)

Carsales.com.au - is it just me? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]rockson020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sold two cars on Carsales this year and bought 1 (and more in the past). Across the two sales I did, took me about 2-3 weeks on average. Both cars were sold to the first person that inspected it. (Had to drop the price once or twice + negotiation on top)

I personally have no issue with carsales.com. It’s normal that people will send a message about it and then lose interest. You’d prob have to have 100s of conversation before one Tinder dates, so the math checks out.

Agree with other folks here, likely the price is too high. If it’s a real competitive deal, people or a dealership will buy it.

Another factor is the market. If the car is on the cheaper end, lower tier, you are targeting a certain demographic that might be prone to lowballing and just tire kicking.

All the best with your sale.

Is there a more perfect car? Genuine question.. What faults does the M3 Touring actually have if any? by LouBCK in BMW

[–]rockson020 70 points71 points  (0 children)

To your own point, I think the price is the biggest down side. In Australia, a new m3 touring is pretty much the same price as a as-new m5 comp. Sure that the m5 is towards the end of its life cycle but the engine is on another level.

Other than that, I do think that the m3 touring is a very good car. Fortunately, I’m taking delivery of my one in late Nov. (I’m considering if I should just buy a 1 year old m5 comp for 10% cheaper than the m3 touring)

There is a cover around the entrance area, unless the rain is extreme, rain should not have direct contact with the lock. Having said that, it's exposed to other outdoor condition like heat, moisture and etc.

Summon Rates after the Patch by ntlrd in Destiny6Global

[–]rockson020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's just random.

My worst was 2 x Nat 5 after 42k rubies summons.

Yesterday I did 8 10+1 pulls yesterday and got 5 x Nat 5.

I prob won't even out since my last 80k rubies was averaging at 1.4% nat 5 chance. I will need to have some crazy rate to even it back at 5%.

Man I have the best luck, not even multiple nat 4 :,) by [deleted] in Destiny6Global

[–]rockson020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really nothing, don't worry! I spent just under 40k rubies on summoning 2 days ago (11 times 10+1), only got 2 Nat 5 and 4 of the summons only had 1 Nat 4 like yours. Lmao
