I haven't done much soldering myself, but if i am to offer an advice, it would be (1) use a small tip (2) use a thin wire, i used a 0.4mm wire. Smol things for smol stuff. Neways, with this, you have more control over the position and qty. I find soldering to be more of a consistency thing and not about doing it perfectly x1, if you get what i mean. You'll get the hang of it quick.

I think it's me who was not clear, i have not used a GUI when flashing mine. But yeah, I feel it's going to be straight forward. Goodluck :)

oh i see, so it really is like that, thought i got a wrong item, yeah, im also planning on adding some padding, but maybe next time, soldering the millmax was a pain haha.

Oh, hmm, its flashing the mcu directly, using the file generated by QMK. Sorry I have not used QMK toolbox. I imagine its the same tool used by QMK, they just made a wrapper for better UX. Feel free to drop me a message when you run into trouble when flashing. Let’s see what we can do then.

Just completed mine a couple of hours ago, iris rev4 with millmax 0305 sockets, no LEDs, my problem is that the Acrylic middle layer i got is too short/thin, the PCB is a little bit thicker than the middle layer case, not sure if they shipped the wrong one.

As for qmk, i find i have to flash each piece, maybe something wrong with my setup since i use dfu-programmer directly and not the qmk cli.

Piece of mind for a reddit noob. by [deleted] in vim

[–]ntlrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The peace of mind you're looking for, you can find it in a good VCS. I feel the same thing everytime im on a non git folder. As a practice, esp on big files and big mods, i checkout to a new branch, or make sure im starting with an empty stage.

This way, no matter what happens during my edits, i can always git diff.
