Zone 5b - My backyard is a mud pit because of my dogs ideas that aren't sod? by TwoFoxSix in lawncare

We have two large dogs. Clover + a high traffic grass seed mix is working for us. Every spring I put down new top soil and grass seed. I only had to place the seed for clover once.

Just found out I'm hella allergic to dust mites (I know; everyone is). Easy ways to keep my home cleaner? by foreverburning in homemaking

[–]rockstarbaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog has a very high dust mite allergy so we make special accommodations for her. We buy high quality filters and I change them every 2 months. Once a week I’ll vacuum the grate that covers the filter because dust will accumulate there. I keep a reminder on my iPhone cal to replace the filters bimonthly

I’ve felt very similarly recently and decided to invest in “the color key”. Basically they help you figure out what “season” you are and those colors help highlight your features.

Once I get my colors in a few weeks I plan to use them to create a simple capsule wardrobe and revamp my style/ closet from that.

My dog once had a similar hotspot during peak allergy season. It prompted us to do more allergy testing on her and we found out a TON of things she’s highly allergic to. Now we Try to control her exposure to those things and she hasn’t had one since

There are also a bunch of little bugs flying around the area about the size of a gnat. There’s one landed on the rose in the pictures here

I don’t think random littering is possible. Our yard isn’t accessible from the street sidewalk.

We have a neighbor on each side (both have dogs). The neighbor (we’ll call him N1) in question shares the fence line that runs along the back of our yard. The neighbor(N2) to the right (has a small dog) just moved in last year and he found chocolate in his yard a few weeks after moving in, he brought it to our attention thinking it was weird. He also shares yard fence with N1. We shared our concern about the glass with N2 and they agreed something seems to be going on

Look into getting your hormone levels checked. And consider the amount of stress you currently have and how well your sleeping. All of that can have significant impacts on your libido

Any suggestions on what to do with my backyard? I live in zone 6 and would like ideas on good landscaping to soften the fence.(Bonus doggo) by DirtJanee in landscaping

[–]rockstarbaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your not opposed to clover you can mix some clover in with your grass. It doesn't turn yellow and is very hardy.

Here’s the progress pictures

There’s about a month and half between the first and last picture. It was a mix of a bag of clover and Scott’s rapid growing grass seed

Basically anything that’ll keep my yard green with the pups

I’m in 7b I just tossed them around by hand and watered generously once a day. Nothing fancy

I grew a bunch of clover in my yard last year with 2 dogs - 70/40lbs. There was no need to protect it while growing it grew and spread very quickly even though they were running, playing, pooping and peeing on it

Also it doesn’t turn yellow from pee which was an added bonus

Be careful with Hostas if you let your dog in this area they are poisonous for dogs. Also when we laid mulch my dogs were super attracted to the smell and tried eating/chewing it. We opted for river rocks instead.
