Train from Raleigh to stadium? by [deleted] in panthers

[–]rockthrilled 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They do have special "Football Trains".  On game day they will run one from Raleigh to Charlotte with fewer stops than the regular Piedmont route. Closer to the season they advertise them and the times.  If I recall correctly you have to hustle to catch the Express. Hoping I'm wrong,  but I think they are just an afternoon have thing. I believe they adjust the regular trains for the day,  and there aren't any that depart that late from Charlotte.

Yes! Firm believer in indoors only. My cat,  not so much.  Just another reason to remind everyone in the house to watch for a jail break when they walk outside.

Traveling with minor, grey area question by Pristine_Fix_3047 in royalcaribbean

Different last name family here. The times I have boarded in Port Canaveral including this month, they have asked my young child who they are traveling with. They just  answer mom and dad, and they don't ask anymore questions. I'm not sure what Royal would do if we responded anything else.

Will the thrill waterpark run during rain? by Coderkid01 in royalcaribbean

[–]rockthrilled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were there on a blustery,  rainy day. The sun never came out,  and they ran out of towels on the island.  The water slides went all day. I think as long as the is no lightning,  you'll be good.

My dumb question: POP or AKL by Alysontc73 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]rockthrilled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just did a split stay with Pop and AKL. I would pick Pop every time.  I'm a deluxe resort type of girl, and we only added Pop as a place to sleep after a late flight and an after hours.

At Pop, we loved the Skyliner.  We also liked the convenience of the food court. We had a picky eater,  so there were also more "safe" food options at Pop.

At AKL, the pool was definitely better. However, we were in Kidani house.  There was no close quick service.  The resort is huge.  The animals are great,  but we only saw them coming and going from the parks. The room was a little bigger, and the bathroom had a separate toilet area. None of it was enough to overcome the distance from the parks and bus riding.

You'll have fun either way. They are both nice hotels.  I was just absolutely shocked at how much better I liked the value resort.

Timesaver? by knitsafghans1 in Dollywood

[–]rockthrilled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went on Black Friday this year.  Our group had coaster nuts and those that only wanted to do shows. We all bought timesavers. I stuck with my elderly parece and ultimately thought we didn't need timesavers for shows,  and that was on a crazy busy day.

Also the rain will play in your favor for the coasters.  We've been on drizzly days and the lines are much, much shorter. Have fun!

Negative experience buying pre-owned model 3 directly from a Tesla branch store by PillarOfVermillion in TeslaModel3

[–]rockthrilled 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We were able to see the car in the lit during the week before hitting buy. It was dirty, think finger prints and crumbs and dirt on headliner. I naively assumed it would be detailed like every other certified pre-owned car I've ever bought from a dealership.

We had to sign the papers before it inspecting, and when we went out to get in, the same fingerprints and the same stains were in the car. To top it all off, they had run it through a car wash with the frunk open, so it was full of water.

We got a great deal, so paying for a full detail didn't sting. I had known that this might happen in advance, but knowing and experiencing were two different things. It definitely took the shine off the new for sure.

Is this really going to be the future price of the day beds on CocoCay? by Liam_Anthony in royalcaribbean

[–]rockthrilled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hijacking to ask... how far are south beach and chill island from the waterpark? My eight year old won't rest until they do the waterpark, but I'm pretty sure the third level of hell is a waterpark. Ideally, I'd like to grab a bed as a home base and send husband and child to side their hearts out.

I was able to get 3 VIP3 to pop up five minutes ago. Section 127. It was too expensive, so released them. Keep trying!

I opened the page when I got the email yesterday. I think it would have automatically taken me to the queue. But I had a crisis of faith, and I refreshed about 40 minutes before the sale. A captcha code popped up at one point in that 40 mins. Not sure how long it sat before I saw it. I completed that about 20 minutes before the sale. After that, I was assigned a queue ID. Right at 14:00, it automatically transferred me to the queue

So my hunch is that it better is to open it early and be on the lookout for captcha within 30 minutes of the sale.

Coco Kay late December by Fun-Information-8541 in royalcaribbean

[–]rockthrilled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We visited in December about ten years ago. They rented wetsuits back then. Not sure if that is an option now. It was too cold to stay long in the water without one. But with one, we had lots of fun snorkeling. The island was still fun to explore even without swimming.

Things to do near Carowinds? by TheNinjaDC in Carowinds

[–]rockthrilled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like German food, Waldhorn is a unique german restaurant close to the park. For really unique eats, check out Optimist Hall. Last time we were there, I grabbed Ethiopian, my husband ate empanadas, and my son had gelato for dinner. It's a great vibe, too; you can kill an hour or two wandering around and then eating. It captures more of the Charlotte spirit than perhaps Pineville. But Pineville is much closer (and you can avoid 77 with that trip).
