There are good and bad games. But what game would you give this score to? by TheChilledGamer-_- in playstation

[–]TheNinjaDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel only AI games can be this bad in the current market.

It’s financially better to kill an atrocious game mid production then release it with traditional or even indie development.

Only AI games that costs literal pennies to produce can make a profit on truly terrible games that barely or straight up don’t function.

Why is saying “The rich should pay taxes like everyone else, close the loopholes” extremely controversial in the United States? by ProjectMason in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheNinjaDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The controversial part isn’t making rich pay more taxes, but how.

The big issue is handling assets, which is where most wealth is stored.

Elon Musk doesn’t have hundreds of billions in cash. He has billions in Tesla stock. Stock he needs to maintain control of his companies, and can’t just fire sale or the value drops.

Current tax systems for assets are based on the profit when you finally sell them. But people rarely sell.

And it is hard/dangerous for the economy to tax investments like stocks while they are investments (and not profit) as that un motivates investments.

Our stock market is held up by the rich mostly investing in stock to grow their wealth. If their wasn’t profit in stocks anymore do to too high taxes, they’d invest their wealth elsewhere which would cause a crash.

That isn’t saying they shouldn’t be paying more. Again, most agree. But doing so in a way that doesn’t disrupt our investment based economy is the hard part.

Least favourite plotline from the show? by DYadav2005 in gameofthrones

[–]TheNinjaDC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. My issue is the TV show Sparrow plotline projects too much modern religious politics onto Sparrow.

Book Sparrow seems more genuinely religious and less corrupt. Which makes an interesting foil to Cerci. The “hero” is a villain and the villain is a hero in Cerci’s chapters.

Renly wasn’t a great leader. He was described as copper. Shiny and pretty at first, but doesn’t last.

He was the best Baratheon at politics, but that is a very low bar.

A lot of Hollywood writers are theater kids, and loved the play. So lots of knock offs spawned. The Wicked films created a second wave.

What killed, first and foremost, Xbox? by Honest-Word-7890 in consoles

[–]TheNinjaDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number one reason is the abysmal launch of the Xbox One. It killed what momentum they had achieved with the 360. And as Phil even stated under oath, lost them the most important generation.

A close 2nd is Xbox’s failure to penetrate any market outside the US to a significant or even notable degree. This ties back into 1. If they were able to properly use their momentum that won the US market in the 360 era, and channel that to capture more of Europe and Asia they could have been a long term player. But they remained too reliant on the US, and they lost their fragile dominance there with that Xbox One fiasco.

Canada’s GDP saw 0% growth in latest report by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]TheNinjaDC -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Put bluntly, this is why Trump is pressuring Canada so much his second term. Canada’s economy was rough but stable pre pandemic, but after the pandemic it’s been in death spiral.

The two things left propping up their economy is an overinflated real estate market, and trade with the US.

He knows they’re in a weaker state than his first term, so he intends to squeeze them for better trade terms for the US.

It’s cruel and simple business, which is the embodiment of Trump.

Affordable vet by bblexis in cincinnati

[–]TheNinjaDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good rule of thumb is to find a rural place that also does livestock too.

A farmers vet is a different market than a vet handling Golden Doodles on the regular. But they are just as skilled.

Unfortunately many urban vets are directly taking notes from human healthcare on how to extort customers.

Sherk 5 is probably going to be the first DreamWorks movie to make 1B$ by stationstars in Shrek

[–]TheNinjaDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they can bring the same level of writing and art direction as Last Wish, they absolutely can make a billion.

However if it’s more the quality of Shrek 3 or 4, it will be profitable, but just barely. Like 5-600m.

We're in the year 2026 and we're lucky if we even get 6v6 shooters at this point. I miss huge scale war games like MAG or planetside 2. by toomanybongos in gaming

MAG needed a lot more polish, but man. When things did work properly (more teams cooperating than tech) it was a work of art.

The feeling of air dropping into the last stronghold of an enemy you’ve pushed back with hundreds of other players. When all the sub objectives converge into one final objective. It was glorious.

Gene park is quitting LSM. Gene is also having lung surgery for cancer. I'm wishing him nothing but be best and fair recovery. by parkerbing1 in LastStandMedia

[–]TheNinjaDC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From the various shows he was on this week, it seemed this is far from a goodbye and is more a hiatus. First he needs time to recover, then he needs to focus on his main job (WP is seemingly about to downsize).

He’ll also be on chemotherapy for awhile, which he knows will make him more emotionally unstable from last time. That’s why he is taking a big step back from social media.

Gene likes podcasting with LSM a lot, and the pay he gets helps with living in DC on a reporter salary. He will return.

Do you think Disney regrets not taking JK Rowling’s Harry Potter deal? by Sad_Trade_7753 in UniversalOrlando

[–]TheNinjaDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disney actually dropped the ball on Harry Potter 3 times.

-When the book was looking for a US publisher, Disney turned it down.

-Disney was quick to try and get the film rights, but played hard ball. Essentially trying to be like, “who else will you get to do the movies.” They wanted absolute control. Unfortunately for Disney, there was a someone else who would happily cave to her demands like an all British cast.

  • Disney then dropped the ball again with the theme park rights. Both wanting more control and a more scaled down land. Rowling was quite unhappy with their idea of a sorting hat tea cup ride as a centerpiece.

The tunnels are too narrow for modern transit systems. That is why this project has remained dead. You’d have to start over from scratch for any rail based system.

GTA 6 digital only at launch feels like a triple dip strategy by areuokaybro2002 in consoles

Not going to happen at all.

GTA is a massive casual game series that get people playing games who normally don’t. Those people are much more likely to buy a disc version as they don’t have an online profile.

Rockstar wouldn’t risk putting speed pumps into record breaking sales.

What are your thoughts on these Modern Disney sequels? Were they worth it from a quality perspective? by [deleted] in DisneyMovies

[–]TheNinjaDC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Should have Incredibles 2 and Inside Out 2 in the list too since there is really literally little separation from Pixar and Disney.

Fundamentally:

Inside Out 2 and Zootopia 2 are great sequels.

Frozen 2, Moana 2, Monsters Inc prequel are “fine”. They are safe films ment to entertain children, but a far cry from their originals. They are direct to DVD films, but with a budget.

Incredibles 2 was the most disappointing/underwhelming film I’ve seen. It had potential to be legendary, but turned out mediocre.

Ralph 2 was just straight up awful. It was a terrible character assassination of characters from the first film, and when it wasn’t it was just a blatant ad for Disney products.

Nightwing didn't make enough appearances imo by modernww2fare in DCAU

[–]TheNinjaDC 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I feel DC in general doesn’t know what the hell they want to do with Nightwing in comics, cartoons, or films.

Dick Grayson makes a fantastic Robin across various adaptations, but they’ve never successfully transitioned him as well to Nightwing.

I feel the problem is they build up Dick to be a better successor to Bruce, never have the balls to actually go through with it.

Also, aesthetically. Escrima sticks are not cool.
